I finally got around to finishing this book, the third in what I consider PAD's "Q Trilogy", and I have to say I came out of it very underwhelmed.
PAD's previous Q books (Q-in-Law and especially Q-Squared) were much better, both in terms of action, humor and (again, in Q-Squared) in conveying a sense of epic scale.
In I,Q I felt like I was being told to be in awe of the scope or laugh at the jokes and be astonished by Q's character, but I didn't really feel it.. It was just flat IMO.
I think that by having deLancie as co-author (does anyone know the details of the cooperation for the novel?), I,Q was hailed as THE Q novel, and in practice, at least IMO, it didn't even come close to either PAD's other Q novels, Greg Cox's Q Continuum trilogy, or KRAD's Q&A.
What did you think of the novel?
How did it compare to other Q novels?
