I know someone HERE will understand!!

I was recently traveling on business and went to a local bar to pass some time one evening. I wound up sitting at the end of the bar and decided to check out the video game thing they've got there, as I've never even looked at them before.

So I wound up playing this TV Guide crossword puzzle game, and was doing quite well, until I got to this one:

Clue: Commander of Deep Space Nine.
Puzzle: S_S_O

I quickly punched in an I and a K, and it told me I was wrong! I did it again, and it again told me I was wrong. :klingon:

The clock kept ticking and I finally had to punch "Take Points", giving up on the puzzle and taking the consolation points for the letters I had gotten right.

It filled in the puzzle to show me what the correct answer was, and the frelling thing spelled out "SISCO". :cardie:

OMFG, I felt like blowing a gasket. I looked left. I looked right. And there were no geeks present to share in my indignation. :shifty:

So here I am, looking for solace. :)

I've seen several TV and science fiction magazines spell it that way. I think its his equivalent of the number of C's in Picards name.

Recently, TV Guide did a story on the new Trek film where they called Spock a "Klingon." The internet crashed briefly due to the number of angry e-mails.

Did their site literally get DOS'ed by all the e-mails??!

And...wow. There's nothing I hate worse than bad spelling--and especially as the clue to some sort of bonus level!

That would have driven me CRAZY! I had a similar experience with a crossword puzzle. I can't remember the clue exactly, but the answer was "Jake Sisco". That stuff really makes me mad.

I noticed they seem to have phonetic spellings of old earth languages in the future. German Reicher became Riker, and Spanish Cisco became Sisko, for example. (I'm thinking Ben's name was probably creole.) It looks like in the future they simplified the spellings.
