I just love TNG!

I've been rewatching it on DVD this week, and I'm now in the third season. (I've been blasting through the series, only watching the episodes that are good/I like)

And, somehow, I had "forgotten" what a great series it was. The characters are all fun and Stewart/Picard is just simply awesome. TNG, will always be my favorite series.

:)

I love TNG. Right now I'm making a run through the X-Files, when I'm done with that I'll probably start on TNG.

Clym, was that really necessary?

Well, there's nothing wrong with loving both TNG and DS9. Without TNG's greatness, there never would have been DS9 (which I happen to love as much or more).

The third season of TNG may be the most impressive (and important and influential) season in post-TOS Star Trek history.

it's no DS9.

DS9 is good. Hell Voyager and Enterprise both have their moments (TOS is in a class of its own) but DS9 got too... "dark" for my tastes and I was endlessly bored and put off by the War Arc.

TNG is the series I "grew up with" it's the first series I saw, it's the series that made me a TNG fan, it's centered around the Enterprise and my favorite class of starship it's casted by some wonderful actors and my favorite characters (Picard and Data in paticular) and, well, there's little I don't like about it.

Hell, I even like Wesley.

:)

I think Enterprise Season Three is pretty damn impressive as well. TNG and Enterprise both had excellent third seasons. Lots of shows are like that...less than stellar first and/or second seasons followed by excellence.

As ive said before TNG was my first love in the Sci-Fi genre.

I grew up with it and watched it loyally after school every afternoon, it was the ONLY show I looked forward to in the afternoons.

The crew of ole E-D are timeless friends that never age and are always there to bring me back to a more "innocent" time.

I like all the Treks but TNG will always hold a very special place.

Me too. TNG was the show I grew up on. It came on when I was 7 and ran until I was 14. I watched it every week.

I like DS9 but also found it dark and too arc oriented, never cared for Voyager, and found ENT to be inconsistent. When they were on it was great, other times it sucked.

I love TNG too, probably my favorite of the whole
Trek series, I liked TOS and DS9 as well, but TNG means
more to me, I watched it a lot when I was in college and
still do, to this day.
Crusher and Riker are my favorite,
I was kind of glad when Weasley left
the show though

Neither is TOS, but TNG is waaaay better than DS9. DS9...like watching paint dry...

I love TNG too! But I love the first season the most! I've been watching that lately and I think it's really really underrated.

Finally! A thread that singing TNG's praises and not tearing it apart. Like most of you, TNG holds a special place for me, as I watched it during its original run from age 16 to 23. I have fond memories of watching the show in college with about 30 people each week on early Saturday evening before going out. Good times!

Peace.

I never cared for the first season but now I enjoy it to see how much changed over 7 years.

Ome line im glad they dropped after E@FP "Captain weve got a bogie coming in on a 9 oclock tangent" :)

TNG is the one for me too, because this is the series that made me into a Trek fan and care a lot about the characters.

TOS couldn't do that to me. Just because of TNG I watched the later series DS9 and VOY basically for that "Yea, a new episode of Trek" feeling I kept from the TNG episodes.

Well, ENT killed that for me unfortunatly.

TNG is definitely the show that got me hooked... it was on almost constantly when I was a kid on various local stations. I was at first only peripherally aware of TOS (I had the old NES game) and only discovered it later. I love TOS now, it truly is in a class of its own, and I liked DS9 and VGR too... not so much ENT... but I get such warm fuzzies when I think of Capt. Picard and the crew of the Enterprise-D. I hated when they blew the D up in Generations and as much as I love 'First Contact' the movies never quite captured the spirit of the show as effectively. I think the episode I remember coming on most is "The Quality of Life" with the exocomps.

As for me, my first, and favorite Trek, was and will always be TOS.

TNG, however, was what got me back into Trek fandom after a number of (mostly teen) years from it. I was a little skeptical at first, but by the end of the first season, I loved it. It's writing and acting blew me away.

I too, am in the third season and like you, watching it has jogged my memory of how good this series was and still is. The characters have a warmth and the episodes have an innocence and charm that is sorely lacking from todays television.

*sigh* i miss TNG and Beverly.

^Loved the fifth season. Power Play is one of my all time favourite 'guilty pleasure' episodes. Just starting the fourth season. The scene where the Enterprise separates and begins firing their anti-matter spread was all kinds of awesome. I always wondered what happened to Shelby...i always thought that she might have added an interesting dynamic had she been made part of the regular / reccurring cast.

Picard as a borg is still creepy.

I just started watching my TNG DVDs. I'm almost finished with season one. I'm surprised how good it is, I've forgotten most of the things about it, since I watched it over 10 years ago.

One question: Why did they kill Tasha Yar so early? Was it because the actress playing Yar wanted out?
