I just finished collecting all of DS9 on DVD!

I am not Spock

I've been meaning to do so for some time, and as of today, I have all of DS9 on DVD! :bolian: For whatever reason, I was collecting them in random order (I started with season six). I got seasons one and two today, completing my DS9 library. I have all of TOS as well, nearly all of TNG, half of Voyager, seasons three and four of ENT, and all 11 movies. Hope to collect all of Trek someday.

Good for you. I'm planning on buying DS9, but it wasn't completely released here (They released it until season 3), I guess I'll buy it on Amazon when I have the chance. Voyager wasn't completely released here either (Season 1-2). I only have TOS complete (the original) and season 1 remastered, also TNG seasons 1, 3, 4, 6 & 7, Voyager's season 2 and some random DVD box collections like Captain's log and Alternative Realities. And the TOS movie box.

I plan in completing the whole collection this year, finishing TNG, buying DS9, Voyager, Enterprise and, if I find it, even the Animated Series plus the TNG movie Box. :)

Yeah, the other shows and movies are all freely available in most good hi fi stores here, but I haven't been able to find a copy of TAS anywhere. I'll keep looking for it.

As a collector, It's always nice to complete a series. I purchased the big box of DS9 with all seven sevens a few years ago with Bush's tax stimulus that was sent to everyone at the time.

I have everything except Voyager and Enterprise, which I may soon purchase because my girlfriend would like to watch them.

I'm a bit of an OCD geek uber completist, so I love collecting everything. I have STV and Nemesis for this reason! :)

Unfortunately, I had to go and pick Trek for a collecting hobby, didn't I? Why couldn't I be a fan of something with slightly less seasons, like Babylon 5? :)

DS9 is the only series where I have the complete collection of all 7 seasons. I've tried doing the same with other shows, including The West Wing and Battlestar Galactica, but I just cannot justify getting certain seasons of those shows.

I've been working on this, too - I'm up to season 5. I hope to have the other two within the next couple of months. So congrats, Not Spock.

Congratulations! I remember how pleased I was when I finished the DS9 collection. :)

So do I. I also remember how annoyed I was about all the damn scotch tape I had to buy to keep the damn things together.

Still, it was nice having one of my favorite shows in DVD in it's entireity.

I found that collecting all of DS9 was quite the ordeal myself... even though I bought it in a single order off Amazon UK. :scream:

I had ordered some movies from them about two months before, including some of the Trek movies, and that was my first time ever buying anything off the internet (summer 04). One day they sent me an email titled "Cheap Space Nine" to inform me that they were selling all of DS9 for 48% off. I don't know why it was 48% as opposed to 50%. It was still a lot of money because that was back when Paramount was fleecing us fans for all we were worth and charging around €120 for a season set. It seemed like an amazing opportunity at the time because I hadn't seen the show in years, although nowadays you can get a season for €20. :alienblush:

So I bit the bullet and ordered every season along with a few books I couldn't find in stores, and I told Amazon to send it all as one package to save me on shipping. So I waited.

And waited.

Eventually Amazon decided that I had been left waiting for too long so they decided to dispatch each order as it was made available, so they dispatched season 4, six hours later they dispatched seasons 2 & 3, and two hours later they dispatched the rest. The incompetence of that astounded me. So a few days later seasons 2, 3 & 4 arrived at my door and I stroked my new preciouses for about an hour until my arm got tired, but I chose to wait for season 1 before watching them so that I could watch the show in order for the first time. So I waited.

And waited.

Two weeks passed, and in the mean time I inspected all the discs and noticed that season 4 disc 4 had a chunk about to fall off the disc itself. So I contacted Amazon to inform them of the defect and to find out where my other DVDs had gotten to. They dispatched a new season 4 set and told me to wait another week before they'd re-dispatch seasons 1, 5, 6 & 7 along with all my books. So I waited.

For about a week. Not only did my second season 4 arrive on the same day as seasons 1, 5, 6 & 7, but the original dispatch of seasons 1, 5, 6 & 7 arrived on the same day as well! And many of the DVD cases were cracked in all three dispatches. So I mixed and matched until I had a complete set that wasn't all cracked and broken and sent all the extra stuff back. The hinge on the season 5 set broke about a week later. :wah:

Damn, that story was very boring. :vulcan: Ah well, I've typed it all up, may as well post it.

I hated those old plastic cases they used to put Trek DVDs in. I have some of the chunky, old school VOY boxes, but other seasons of VOY in the new slimline edition. Looks very ugly on my shelf! :) I don't mind too much about Trek DVD packaging, as long as they're not too hard to pry the discs out of, and they keep the discs in good condition. I find the TOS-R DVDs really hard to pull out of the package, one has to be very careful.

DS9 is the only series where I have the complete collection of all 7 seasons. I've tried doing the same with other shows, including The West Wing and Battlestar Galactica, but I just cannot justify getting certain seasons of those shows.

Shows I have every season of:

DS9
TOS-Remastered
Firefly (only the one season, so that wasn't so hard  )
Buffy
Angel
Extras
Little Britain

Shows I'm very close to completing:
TNG (only missing the first three seasons. I'll get around to it someday)
VOY
ENT
Red Dwarf
Dr Who (the new 2005-present series)

Congrats! You have many wonderful hours of viewing pleasure ahead! I just finished TNG and am about to re-watch DS9. Can't wait!
