You know, I know that Abrams and Orci and Kurtzman are playing politics and are walking on eggshells where canon and continuity and Trekkies are concerned (Though I don't know why
), but I'm not bound by such constraints. So I'm going to say it in plain english: I hope that this film pisses off that unhappy, canon-obsessed, Shatner-phile segment of the fanbase to the point that they go away and stay away, leaving room for the new generation of Trek fans not weaned on bizzare version of Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds and "Bilbo (Bilbo) Bilbo Baggins"! There isn't a more rigid, unpleasant, conservative, inflexible, and rediculous group of fans than those people. Star Trek (No bloddy "XI" thank you!) is a wonderful oppurtunity to whipe the slate clean and flush the remaining old fans away. Nothing would make me happier to see this film succeed to that degree. I don't care if you agree with me or not. I just felt it had to be said.
