I hope the new Trek movies are successful (spoilers)

After having watched the excellent action film that was Star Trek, I do hope these new movies by Abrams succeed in creating a new fanbase. At least then maybe a few TV movies or a few mini-series can address the Earth-Romulan war without face-to-face contact, as well as a solution from the Vulcan we all know and love for that big supernova from whenever the old Spock came from.

I sort of doubt we'll see a new TV show or TV movie anytime soon. My bet is that Trek will live via new films every 2-4 or so years with this current crew.

Now what I would absolutely *love* is a new TV series with the new cast, but there's not a very good chance of that happening.

If I was a "Ruler of the Fan Base" I'd but an end to the Earth Romulan War fantasy. Especially on TV.

Why this obsession with a Romulan war without face contact? Due to Nero, the Federation has already had face-to-face contact with the Romulans (even though they are from the future) - so it is very doubtful an Earth-Romulan war would proceed as in the "prime" time line.

Besides, I always found the "no face-to-face" thing the most ridiculous aspect about that war.


No, the sequel should IMO deal with exploration... Not many Trek movies have dealt with that after all.

The next few sequels should be about the Federation-Klingon conflict, exploration and adventure. One of these sequels should show how Spock attempts and successfully restores the timeline so that my beloved Vulcan is back to its normal self.
