At least it wasn't one of those scenes during which the villain goes on to explain his evil scheme to the hero "because you'll die anyway, mwahaha", giving the hero the chance to do something. Granted, the good man did say two sentences, but Kirk had the gun the moment Ayel the Rommie grabbed him by the throat.
Carver: "You're too late again, Mr Bond. It's a bad habit of yours. There's nothing you can do - the missile's fully programmed, it can't be stopped. In a matter of minutes, my plan will succeed, and, thanks largely to your efforts, the British Navy will destroy the evidence.
