I have a question about Icheb and his missing cortical node.

Seven couldn't regenerate when her cortical node was malfunctioning, so Icheb gave his cortical node to Seven and used genetic resequencing to compensate and keep his implants stable.

Did Icheb no longer need to regenerate after "Imperfection?" I can't remember if we saw him "sleeping" in the Cargo Bay or not after that point. Without a cortical node, would he still have been able to interface with his alcove? :borg:

Anyone know?

I'm not sure anyone "knows" but I'm guessing he no longer needed the alcove since that interfaces with the cortical node.

Okay, but I heard that one of the major plot points in one of the Voyager books is that they prevent Icheb and Seven from regenerating. This confused me because I had pretty much assumed the same thing you did.

Maybe he does it like Hugh from "I, Borg?" Like, under the ugly shirts he wears there's a power coupling or something? I don't know why this is bothering me so much other than I watched "Imperfection" the other night and right after that I read a thread about the book and said, 'Wait a minute ..."

Now that you mention it...humm...

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I think in "The Farther Shore" it was mentioned that Icheb was having an easier time sleeping than Seven. So, it was sort-of addressed in the book. Sorry for my fuzzy recollection, but it's been a long time since I read the book.

I wouldn't go by anything in the books. ;)

Yes..I don't trust the books..cause well, they were created AFTER the telecivision stuff..and I think it's just that the regeneration is somehow different then Seven's regeneration.
