I've never been interested in competition fighting, but I must say...

How much fun would it be to spar this guy?:

(I suspect that, former head of the KGB or not, he'd be a pushover - for all he's a black belt, look at that wrist position! He wouldn't pass a grading at our taekwondo group)

As for wrist positioning... I won't nitpick on that. I've see "new interpretations" of positioning in katas when organisation heads change. I've also see many positioning changes from the katas as taught to kyu ranks vs the advanced versions you learn as a black belt.

I've seen elsewhere that Putin might actually be refereeing this match, in which case he's not punching, and its an artefact of the camera position at that moment.

I was really just reacting against the number of captions I'd seen of that picture with variations on "ooh isn't Putin tough, he can beat up on two kids at once"

And it would be fun to kick a world leader around a hall.
