I finally got my frakkin' power back on!

I live in the retarded state of KY and last week's ice stom was terrible. My power went out last Wednesday and it finally came on today. I have been mad all week because the only power out in my neighborhood was my house and 15 other houses all grouped together. It looked like a black hole in the middle of a galaxy at night.:scream:

On top of this I got 50 bazillion tree limbs laying all over the place.

Kentucky sucks! I'm moving somewhere warmer like the Sahara Desert!:guffaw:

Try Arizona. Today, 70 degrees without a cloud in the sky. It's beautiful!

Try moving to Rochester NY, we get ice-storms often enough you get used to them. "Meh, again?" :D

I'm glad you finally got your power restored Lookingglassman. Being without it, especially in the winter, is trying.

Kentucky got hit pretty hard by the ice it seems.

I have a friend in Louisville. It didn't affect her at all. Her apartment complex never lost any power.

We got hit a month and a half ago. We were out for 4 days. Finally got a power inverter on the 3rd night to run my pellet stove. There were police escorts for people buying backup generators. Precautionary I guess as I didn't read or hear about any actual incidents.

An old classmate of mine is spearheading a group trying to get rid of a small local utility that took weeks to get everyone back up and running. She's already met with the governor (not that he's much help unless you're a special interest group) and has thousands of signatures.

Glad you got your power back!

My utility company sucks. I found out the other houses around the group of houses without power were under a different utility company and they never lost power. The transformers in my neighborhood are always blowing from either a squirrel jumping around it or a freakin piece of lint falling on it so we lose power about once every four months. This past week was the longest we have been without power since Ihave lived here.

One good thing, though. I have (had) a bunch of trees in my yard that I hate and since most of their big branches are laying on the ground and one of the trees is pretty much destroyed, I wont have that many leaves to rake in the fall. I got a buddy who owns a chainsaw and he charges me around $300 to cut down trees and cut up stuff, waaaayyy cheaper than these companies around here.

The cleanup is still going on here. The city is using a parking lot of a ballfield for residents to drop off their branches and trees. Then they chip this and haul it away. Mountains and mountains of chips and they are still hauling it away. I hope they sell some to wood pellet companies.

This is quite the boon for local tree cutters. They just go house to house and get all kinds of money for cutting and hauling this stuff away. Firewood should be cheaper next winter.

We still have plenty of widowmakers. Those will have to wait til spring to get taken down.
