I feel down in the dumps

Western diets have too much sugar, salt and bad fats are our downfall, try to reduce your intake. US food portions are huge, when I visit I always order small! Get into the habit of reading the ingredients on the labels, if sugar and salt are near the top of the list then you know what you are about to eat is smothered in it. Drink lots of water, especially before you eat, and avoid canned drinks, those are sugar city items.
Mother nature's free and natural gym is WALKING!
You can do it!
Try to eat like this:-
Plate portion
50% Vegetables of different colours
25% Protein
25% Carbs

I try not to fixate on percentages when it comes to meals, but a good rule I do follow is that liquid calories should be kept to an absolute minimum. If fizzy drinks are preferred, perhaps try carbonated water instead of soda, which is essentially liquid candy. Also, eating smaller meals but more often (as opposed to two or three large meals) helps boost your metabolism and keeps your energy up - both physically and mentally.

I try to eat more fruit and veggies, fiber (oatmeal, wheat bread, Metamucil powder) and probiotics (which aid the gut). When I ate mostly soups and salads last year, I lost over 15 lbs. I usually do this because I have chronic acid indigestion. Eating fatty, greasy, sour/acidic, dairy, or caffeinated stuff makes it worse. But generally, my diet rarely has any impact on my mood.

Soup can be great, but if you are consuming mostly canned varieties, be careful... the sodium in some brands can be exceedingly high.

I hope you feel better Coco Pops. I can relate. I'm a super fat 40 year old virgin with no friends. Life seems unfair at times. the best way I would suggest to handle is find something you love and try to achieve it as best you can. Sometimes just trying is enough. You don't even have to be good at what you love to do. the effort is it's own reward.

Jason

I'd hardly say you have no friends, I've never spoken to you before but the general sense of excitement when you announced your return to the forum hardly screams out "unpopular". It's just a question of which people like you. Apparently trekkies do
