I can't be the only one who noticed that "Ricky" in Chez Sandrine was a Lauren Bacall lookalike...

That had to be intentional, right? It wasn't just an actress who had a similar appearance; she had the same hair and seemed to be imitating the voice and facial expressions, etc. I expected to see someone mention that creative choice in the production notes on Memory Alpha, or at least the trivia on IMDb, but it seems like no one's ever brought it up anywhere in the whole internet.

Sorry, I don't see it. The actress Angela Dohrmann doesn't look much like Lauren Bacall and doesn't sound like her at all.

I'm not claiming it was a good imitation, but it seems pretty obvious to me that it was an attempt at one. Wouldn't you at least agree the hair is quite similar? I suppose that could just be an accident of the old-timey motif, but I think it's a pretty big reach to say it was all just a coincidence.

I don't know Bacall from Garder, but based on these pics I agree it's very possibly an homage. Wikis tend to discourage such speculation without a quote to cite, however. I leave more emphatic conclusions to those better versed in actresses of that era than myself... :)

That's what I was expecting to see on Memory Alpha, was a member of the production staff discussing why they decided to go that route with the character. To me, it seems just as obvious as Cyrus Redblock in The Big Goodbye being based on Sydney Greenstreet, but apparently no one on the production staff ever mentioned it, and no one in the whole history of the internet (at least, the part of the internet indexed by Google) has ever so much as speculated about it. I even did a site-specific Google search here, and the only time anyone mentioned Lauren Bacall in connection to Star Trek Voyager was someone saying they would've liked to see her play Janeway's mother in the series finale.
