I got the blurays for christmas so I slowly am watching them.

In the last season and it's been fun for the most part but boy are there some really stupid episodes.

For an indestructible car KITT does seem to get destroyed a lot.

The current episode the bad guys are driving what looks like a weird moon buggy with a battering ram on the front.

There have been other really silly episodes but it just feels like this particular one is just more silly then the rest.

I was always surprised they didn't do and episode where Michael and KITT take on their evil twins Garthe Knight and KARR...

Both Garthe and KARR were rejected by their father/creator and replaced so their team-up would have made sense...of course they would turn on each other at the end.

Garth was super cheesy as a bad guy. He had that soap opera stare down pat.

I always liked that squint Hasselhoff would get right before KITT was about to go through a wall or jump something.

You'd think that a man sitting behind the wheel of a heavily armored, virtually indestructible*, high-tech muscle car would stop looking like he's about to shit his pants after plowing through his fifth or sixth wall. :p

*unless it's a season premiere, then all bets are off.

If Shatner does any more buddy travel shows, I totally want to see the Hoff on board....

I don't care how old either one of those guys get. I will watch them until the end of time.

A Knight Rider with the Hoff will always be 20x more successful then any version that goes ahead without him. Could have made all the difference in the 2008 reboot, especially after being in the pilot....

I love the episode where Michael Knight becomes a singer and does concerts with that blonde. (who was Hasselhofs real life gf).

That is the most jaw-dropping 80s cheese you'll ever see. I also like the cover versions of 80s hits that play in many episode openers. Knight Rider rules!
I proudly own the whole series! Garth is the best!

I never got the appeal of Hasselhoff. To me, the ones with real charisma on Knight Rider were William Daniels and Edward Mulhare.

Ya either get the Hoff, or ya don't.... he's like the Shat, he doesn't take himself seriously and knows that he's become an exaggeration, and plays into it. I died laughing when I saw his cameo in Kung Fury. He's as much Knight Rider to me as the car - although, I do agree, that as long as William Daniels is alive to voice KITT, he and the Hoff are absolutely a package deal as regarding my previous post. :)

Except Shatner is actually a skilled actor.

Like I said in another thread, Knight Rider has one element in common with other cheesy 80's series. They use new world shattering technologies/premises in incredible prosaic ways...

Kitt is an real Artificial Intelligence and has armor that can protect you from everything short of a nuclear explosion. And the best use of it? Let's help some midwest single mom!

Automan is a sentient hologram that can materialize cars and helicopters out of thin air? Obviously you have to send him undercover as an erotic dancer in a ladies-only strip club.

Power Star is the representatives of an alien race and the living proof of the existence of other life forms. And what is your best idea? "There's this Vegas' crime boss. Can you take care of it?"

At least modern tv shows (like IZombie) try sometimes to explore the wider implications of their premise. ...

He was a knight (and a Knight, pseudonymously) who was also a rider. He was also a rider working for Knight Industries. Although, no, then it should've been Knight Driver, since you drive cars and ride bicycles or motorcycles.

Although I've long thought that was backward. Driving is an active process, impelling something to move, while riding implies being a more passive passenger; so really we should say we drive bicycles and ride cars.

Anyway, KITT's full name is Knight Industries Two Thousand, so in a sense, Knight is his first name.

It was being a more passive passenger; KITT drove himself. He was a rider more often then he was a driver, no?

As I recall, Michael liked to drive manually when feasible. KITT could drive himself when it was called for, e.g. when nobody was in the driver's seat or when Michael was otherwise occupied or unconscious/hurt, but Michael did his own driving when he could, because he wouldn't have been much of a Manly '80s Action Man of Action if he hadn't.

Still, I remember quite a few times Michael was sleeping on longer drives.... yes, he liked to take over when human decision making and risk taking came into play, but I would still be willing to wager the the majority of the time as they were en route to various missions up and down the west coast, desert and midwest, that KITT would have been the primary chunk of driving....
