HuuuuuWHA? (Possible spoilers for specials)

it's from the Sun...

They get some stuff wrong, for sure, but they have also accurately predicted quite a few things.

And yeah there are all sorts of roumers flying around about the specials including the often repeated
McGann
roumer.

W..w..w..wait. Where in America are they filming (I mean, assuming that information is true)? They've got to come to New York! They've just got to!

Oh God, much as I love Donna and Wilf I hope this isn't true (unless it's actually a story set before Journey's End-) As it'd completely destroy the emotional impact of JE- Then again given RTD did a similar thing in bringining Rose back I wouldn't put it past him.

On the rumourmetre however I don't rate this very high! :D

A very few things. And for every one they get right, there's probably ten they get wrong. But because they get the very occasional one right people tend to forget all the ones they get wrong.

There's never any reason to automatically believe what appears in The Sun, The Star, The Mirror, The News Of The World or The People, until it's backed up by a more credible source elsewhere.

While the ending of JE was tragic and well-acted, I hoped there was still one more story to be told. To leave Donna like that would be too much.

And the Master? Sweet.

There was a launch event for teh Sarah Jane Adventures last Friday, and the Sun had a chap there. He may well have picked up some gossip there (for one thing, Russell and both of his co-authors on the specials were there) but how reliable it is, only time will tell.

Actually, has anyone been keeping score ? I'd be interested in examining their true hit/miss ratio, because I suspect it's alot higher than many people actually give them credit for. And sure, there may not be any reason to 'automatically believe what appears in The Sun' - but equally, there isn't exactly any real reason to automatically dismiss it either. They have been right about some major stuff, although often the details are garbled in some way.

Both comicmix.com and The Sun appear to have got their spoilers from the same source - the spoiler thread on DWF!

And we all know how reliable that board is! ;)

Yeah, sounds like a load of bullocks to me.

The rumor about the return of Donna, Wilf, and the Master comes from the most reliable sources on DWF, actually- people who reported in advance the cliffhanger to "The Stolen Earth" and the second Doctor in "Journey's End." That doesn't mean they're right about this, or that plans won't change, but it's certainly more worth taking seriously than the usual tabloid bilge.

I'm pretty sure it was "reliable sources on DWF" who also claimed that Harriet Jones was the Red Dalek and that Simm had shot scenes for the S4 finale back in November last year.

^No. those "spoilers" were from The Doctors trainers, who has a much poorer track record. The Tate/Cribbins/Simm story is supported by The Co-Ordinator, who was skeptical of TDT's report of the S4 Simm rumor and flat-out denied that Harriet Jones was the Red Dalek. There's more than one spoiler source at DWF, of course, and some are more reliable than others. ;)

you dont have to have insider knowledge to know Harriet Jones was not the Red Dalek, just an IQ slightly below mine.

The Sun has spoiled about three whole seasons on several occasions. Do they make stuff up at times? Yep, but not as much as people like to think

Besides, Tate and Simm's return was announced on SKY NEWS, so it's official.

No, I think if you actually look at all their "scoops" they're less accurate than people think- everyone remembers their hits when the news is officially announced, but not the misses because there's no reminder of them. And even when they get an accurate detail they tend to botch it in some way- to go by their reporting on "Gridlock," the Face of Boe was the Doctor's enemy.

No. "Official" would be a news release from the BBC. Sky News reporting a rumor doesn't make it not a rumor.

I'm in the crowd that was disappointed/saddened with Donna's end so yes, I'd like to see something more but I'm with Starkers... RTD spoiled any dramatic value (for me) in Rose's story and it wouldn't surprise me if he spoiled Donna's.

And those McGann rumours have been going around for a while now. It would be nice though...

I think the idea of Donna's return is quite credible for the same reason that I belatedly realized Rose's was necessary within the context of the new series' themes and characterizations: it's not within the show's ethos to give a companion a permanent unhappy ending, and neither Rose nor Donna could ever be truly happy/fulfilled where "Doomsday" and "Journey's End" (respectively) left them as characters. I'm not fussed about that (this is a show that always has to be thinking about the small children in the audience, and there's enough grim'n'gritty "realism" elsewhere on TV), but I understand why others would be.
