Is it just me, or does it seem like the project never makes any progress? Myself and several others have been banned from the Bridge Restoration FB page for pointing this out. One person wrote a lengthy post on the Bridge restoration page about how she thought Huston was scamming everyone and using the funds for traveling to various conventions with the bridge chairs. Every time pictures of the bridge are requested, Huston gets evasive and defensive. I'm concerned about people donating thinking they are donating towards the cost of restoring the bridge, when in reality, they are funding Huston's travels to Star Trek/Sci-Fi conventions. The scope of the project has gone from simply restoring the TNG bridge, which it in itself is an enormous undertaking, to a Sci-Fi museum with enormous models of all the Star Trek ships. The cost of producing even one would likely go into the several hundred thousand dollars. Huston also was evasive when asked about what happened to the original 60k or so that was raised, as most of it is gone now. He says he needs another 100k to even start the restoration, and this is after already raising 80k. Why not simply buy the power tools, the plywood, etc, small stuff like that, with what he has already raised. Just very frustrating to see the project get so far off track, from a Bridge restoration to now a grand Star Trek museum, which will likely never happen. Oh well.
An article outlining some of the allegations by the volunteers who worked on the TNG bridge restoration. http://arstechnica.com/business/201...ne-mans-journey-to-restore-star-treks-bridge/
Nothing? I'm surprised! Still hasn't shown any pictures of the supposed restoration nor has Huston reveled specifics. I'm really surprised that no one who has donated has spoken up. Huston just made $80,000+ on a kickstarter that was linked to by Takei, and no one notices the personal use of the funds for convention traveling?
Note: Making three consecutive posts is technically considered spamming. There IS an edit function on the post that can consolidate any additions. You might want to check out the board rules.
Now that Huston has pled guilty to possession of child porn, with a plea deal of time served (64 days), 3 years probation and registration as a sex offender, it also has come out that there is no money left. Don't you hate being right to question?
Wow, between this and Axanar, Star Trek fans really need to stop giving money to shifty people making big promises.
