Hulu Plus Quick questions

I’m thinking about dropping my cable because the bill is outrageous and it pisses me off to no end that I am paying $15.00 a month for the DVR portion of my bill
Don’t get me wrong, I love my DVR but what is the cable company actually giving me other than their electronic on off switch to be charging me $15.00 a month?

Sorry , now that I’m done with my rant, the questions. :p

Is pretty much every episode of shows available?
The reason I as is under this page for example
http://www.hulu.com/plus/#content

House says 1 season 8 episodes, I have 3-4 shows I watch religiously and I want to be able to see them fairly current.

I watch House, Lie to me, Justified and The Walking Dead
Of course I’ve watched other shows but I just can’t justify a $70.00+ cable bill for 4 shows and a DVR.
Will Hulu plus work for me?

Do they also offer some of the Showtime/HBO/FX stuff such as Dexter,Californication, Weeds, Breaking Bad, The Pacific?
The reason I ask is because I could also get rid of the disk portion of Netflix.

Thanks in advance.

As far as House goes, its show page states that Hulu Plus is allowed to stream all of the current season, with new episodes online one day after it airs on FOX. The show page for Lie To Me says the same thing, so I imagine it's the same situation for all FOX shows.

I can't recall with certainty as to how Justified season one was handled by FX, but I believe it was the same as Terriers is currently handled: five episodes online at a time, with each new episode online eight days after it first airs. The first season is not currently online at all.

For The Walking Dead (and other AMC shows, for that matter), you won't find anything past the premiere episode online. That's how AMC tends to handle all of their shows. For the premium cable channels (Showtime, HBO), the odds of you finding any of their shows online are pretty much non-existent. One exception is Netflix, where Showtime often does have past seasons of current shows like Weeds and Californication available for streaming. It appears, based on sho.com, that Showtime does, like AMC, put the season premiere of a show online for free streaming.

@PsychoPere, thanks that helps a lot.

I have no problem waiting a day or two for the Fox stuff or a week or two for the Fx stuff.

As far as Dexter and such, I was introduced to those show via Netflix and am currently trying to keep up with the newer stuff.

I actually don't have a problem waiting for most of that stuff to eventually hit Netflix, the only thing that aggravates me is how some episodes can only be seen on disk.

Someone PLEASE explain to me why how an entire run of a show can be on streaming but certain episodes can only be seen via disk. Ughh.

Glad you asked this PKerr. I just got a BluRay with internet and have noticed HuluPlus and had nearly the identical question in your OP. The difference is I don't have cable at all but would pay the Hulu subscription IF I got all the cable and premium cable shows. As noted it'd still be cheaper than having cable, which due to its outrageous price is why I do without. I wouldn't even watch 2/3 of the channels. I refuse to subsidize for stuff I feel is crap.

I don't like that the premium cable channels and AMC have an embargo otherwise I might jump at HuluPlus.

Well I have the basic package (more a joke if you ask me) as 95% of what I want, military, History, G4 and several HD channels are in the next tier (conveniently).
With internet my bill is close to $110.00 a month, ridiculous.

I'm thinking with not paying for the Cable/internet package and just getting internet and Hulu, I won't even come close to $110.00 a month.

Well, if you really want to see the premium shows or The Walking Dead online, you can go to Amazon's Video on Demand section. You can pay for individual episodes, purchase past or current seasons online, or buy a "season pass" which will give you all previous episodes of that season plus new episodes the day after they air. The Walking Dead is on there, it says you save 5% if you buy the season pass (rather than buying episodes individually), not a lot but I don't know what it is for other shows...individual episodes for almost all shows seem to be $1.99.

So basically it looks like it can get pricey if you are watching a lot of stuff on there, but if you are just concerned about finding current episodes of The Walking Dead or Dexter, then there they are.
