Hubby's b-day present got here!!

Hubby has liked the work of the artist Olivia for...well, he has her calendars from the early 1990s and has always wanted one of her pictures. The ones we liked backed then, even the lowest priced, were out of our price range as Hubby was in school

She's had work appear in Playboy and has done plenty of pictures that are--well, not really for mixed company; models like Pamela Anderson and subjects like Bettie Page. But she's also done some that I would not hesitate to have children see.

This is Hubby's 50th birthday and Olivia was having a showing in Hollywood. So we drove 3 hours basically just to go to the show, found a picture that we could afford (one of the lowest priced), and Hubby finally got it--I think it's one that kids could see without parents freaking:

I also like the whole pinup genre too.. it's sexy but not pornographic (though i was a bit amused when i was with friends at a fantasy convention and they started to look through old lingerie and erotic artbooks considering to buy them).

I told him that I wouldn't mind the living room or dining room. A public room, since we're there more and this is fit for "public viewing."

We're liking having original art. Mostly watercolors it seems. I was given an old etching. Not worth more than $100 but the board is brown. I think there's a process to leach the acids (or whatever it is) out of it. Likely cost more than the thing is worth, but....it's kinda nice. And I'll have time in August to do this.
