-Edit: I apologize for the weak pics. I shot them with my Blackberry on a spur of the moment.PM me if you want a vid or better pics of the finished ship
Materials needed:
1 Art Asylum Enterprise E
Electrical Tape
RadioShack LED's 276-0017(2 pack)
Phillips/flathead screwdriver
Time.
Hello all. I rather like the AA's rendition of the Enterprise E...but I dont like the weak lighting .
Time to change that, yes?
Now, understand that while this is a simple modification, I take on no liability expressed or implied in the damage to your model by following these instructions herein.
(Whew)
Okay, lets get to work:
First, turn the ship on its back. Looking at the warp nacelles, you should see two tabs that are directly above and below the warp nacelle pylon support. Remove these tabs using your flathead screwdriver.
You will then be greeted with two screws. Take the phillips head and remove them, setting them aside with the tabs. Its okay to use a LITTLE force, but dont muscle them or youll break the nacelle off....and we all know what happens to ships missing a warp nacelle ...
Take the top off the warp nacelle GENTLY by sliding your flathead between the seam, and pushing gently up. This cant be a rushed process, so take your time in getting this part off.
Once the top has been separated from the ship, take a break.
Cause now the work begins.
Take your Shack LED's and set them aside. Now take your fine wire stripper and cut/strip the grey wires that go to that sorry stock light bulb .
Youll have to test the connections to determine the pos and negative wire, as the wires are exactly the same grey color.
The LED's match the voltage supply and the draw allows them to be used without a resistor being needed,so just directly wire the LED's to the connections. I twisted and taped the wires for later modification, but feel free to solder the connections if you wish.
Next, take the electrical tape and trim/seal the bottom of the warp nacelle to control light leakage.
Test and check to make sure all is well, and bolt her back up the same way ya took 'er down.
Enjoy.
PM me if you have any specific questions . Ill try to keep track of this forum for general ideas or questions.
Toodles.
