How to fix broken Vostro 1500 webcam connector

That Weirdo In The Corner

I have a Dell Vostro 1500 the webcam has stopped working and on closer inspection two wires have broken at the white connector socket that plugs in to the motherboard.
Does anyone know what I have to do to manually fix this?

Use your warranty and send it for repair would be what I would recommend.

If not that then it is likely the connector is a standard part - there should be a part number on one of the connectors and you can use this to order it.

I still have 1 month of warranty left and I have considered it. Dell have the perfect way of making sure people don't use warranty support, an Indian call centre. I've phoned it before after a hinge broke, it was a nightmare I had to call and hang up, call and hang up until I got the Ireland call centre.

I can't see a part number on it, the only thing I can see is camera1 written on the motherboard next to the male part of the connnector

well it is likely that it is a standard connector - but to be honest I'd not know where to get one (maybe Maplins?).

As for the warranty perservere, and I agree about the Irish they are MUCH better.
