How to conclude Star Trek

Naomi Wildman wakes up suddenly and walks into the bathroom. She hears someone is in the shower and pulls back the curtain.

Benny Russell turns round and says "Good morning"

CUT to black! (none of this fading nonsense)

Dramatic music DN DN... DN DN... DNDN DNDN. Hmm.. that's a bit like Zero Hour, but it fits.

Et voila ;)

Or failing that, y'know... snowglobe!
Oh yeah, a big black guy appearing naked to a pre-pubescent white girl (or, I guess, if the wanted the same actress, one in her late teens/early 20's) on TV....I'm sure all the viewers would love that.:guffaw:

But just out of curiousity, though, how'd you come up with Naomi Wildman in that scene? Why not, say, T'Pol the Vulcan (though still not a fan of the naked black guy and white female thing, but at least it wouldn't be a visceral reference point to some of the ugliest myths in American history)?

It was always a grown up Naomi I had n mind, but I don't know what the audience wants. It could go either way :p

I'm not really sure why I picked Naomi. I just thought it made more sense as being a child character's dream. And she was pretty good at doing  expressions.

I'm not really sure I understand the ugly American history myths bit. It's still pretty early in the morning, maybe my brain hasn't woken up yet. But I wasn't trying to do anything other than pardoy Dallas. If it is controversial, hows about the Shat in the shower?

Hmm Shat in the Shower... There's a spinoff I'd watch.

Benny Russell: "So that's my idea. What do you think?"

Gene Roddenberry: "It has potential."

I'm not gonna lie... there's something really cool about this.

Of course, I for one don't think Trek will ever be dead; it will have its ups and downs and moments of hibernation but it will never go away.

But if I had to have an ending... I think Nerys Myk comes closest in all these suggestiosn to something that would be perfect... I mean it.

Too bad it would be kind of hard to do... a CG Roddenberry might be kind of hard to pull off.

At this point it's very hard to say, becuase there's just too much damn EU. I think it's virtually impossible to end Trek as a whole at this point. If I *had* to pick an ending of some sort, i'd say a conflict which brought together virtually all of the major species into mutual, true, peace. I'd end it perhaps with a shot of various ships from various species all setting out to collaborate and continue to explore space together without fear of war. I think that'd probably tie in nicely with the Trek themes.

Q is in a diner eating onion rings, with a crappy Journey song playing in the background. He looks up, and...........

Uhhh...you got something against Don't Stop Believin' or do you just not like Journey in general??  (Personally, I'm more of an Only The Young kind of guy myself.)

As far as Star Trek reaching some sort of permanent conclusion...well, all I can say to that is...perish the thought!!

I think I read something that indicated the original idea for ending DS9 was to reveal that the entire series had been a fantasy of Benny's, but they decided not to go with it because it raised too many questions about the rest of the shows.

I think it would have been cool.

I think I would have like that too.
