How the hell do you search a ISBN that isn't coming up...

... at regular sites like Amazon or eBay. I tried Googling to places to search, but came up empty.

I am attending techincal school and the name of the books was not given, nor the ISBN. I asked the the ISBN and the book (and seperate work book) are not coming up. Anyone have a clue?

ISBN-13: 978-1-423-96077-0

ISBN-10: 1-423-96927-0
(that "2" before the "7" may also be a "7")

Your only hope, I think, is to find out who the publisher is.

Why on earth are they not telling you the name of the books you'll be using? That sounds a bit odd to me.

After a a couple frustrating days (including a flat tire that took three horus to fix), I was just too frazzled when I searched earlier. I found them. For those who are curious, the books are:

A+ Comprehansive Lab Manual + Managing and Maintaining Your PC Comprehansive

One day when someone posts a thread here about their computer going wackey, I'll actually have a legitimate answer. ;-)

In answer to the original question, in case the issue should arise again, I suggest checking a library's online catalog -- or just calling up their information line and asking them to track it down (which is what people did before there was an Internet). Or you could go to your local bookstore and ask them to search for the number.

At Borders they have a system called "Books InPrint 32" which is complicated but very effective for finding stuff that won't come up via ISBN #. The catch is, none of their systems handle textbooks. There were a number of people that I wanted to strangle when I worked there because they let me spend large amounts of time searching for something(with only an ISBN to work with) before informing me that I was looking for a textbook. Grrr. Take textbook questions to school bookstores. The life you save may be your own.;)
