Janeway didn't seem to care, since she was trying to distance herself form her own stink on that mission, but after they got home and Temporal investigations got a look at Voyagers logs...

They would have shit a brick.

but are we talking about demotion, defrocking, prison time, or some sort of fine/penalization that could be equated from a moneyless society, like maybe a finger?

In Futures End, a 20th century lad in the backyard with a handy cam, caught Voyager flying low over Los Angeles because Kim ordered it so to meet transporter range to recover Captain Janeway from capture by the dread Henry Starling.

That 20th century lad sold that tape to the 6 O'Clock News.

Those Ferengi don't have to answer to Star Fleet or the Federation when they are outside of Federation Space, which a Bajoran Space Station most certainly was.

Predestination is a defence to some accusations but on the flip side. one could say that Temporal Investigations was lapse and remiss not to be waiting for the silhouette of an intrepid class starship to someday be invented by and mass produced by "someone" or "something" and then keep an eye on those buggers to make sure their rape on Earth's history was in good taste.

Naturally DTI agents (or perhaps a reintegrated Braxton himself...) had to go back in time to stop the sale of that tape to the news media. Probably drugged the kid somehow to steal the recording.

Which would have created a divirging timeline inside that adventure since we saw them seeing t he tape in the episode thus risking a world of hurt upstream if Janeway didn't intervene on any number of situations including the Borg/8472 war or the destruction of 29th century earth.

Simple. The Voyager crew never knew about a 20th century kid with a cam-corder, so nothing to report to their overlords back home.

And besides, what was in the past was a simple (and common) UFO sighting/video. It happened all the time.

So, no problem to resolve. Case closed.

It might have been some time since you've seen the episode?

They knew.

It was in the script.

It was on screen.

It is canon.

Kim felt like an asshole.

But was he an asshole that deserved to be locked in the brig for the next 70 years home?

(For this. The brig is a hungry bastard licking it's lips thinking about consuming Harry Kim into it's penal lodging for almost any reason.)

You have to remember that Janeway said in this episode that she had no idea who her family was in the 20th century, but then suddenly a few seasons later, it's Shannon O'Donnel this and Shannon O'Donnel that.

Time is like mercury under these peoples feet.

There's an empty cell in Australia where Tom Paris used to be. I'm sure Harry would be right at home! Garrett certainly has no trouble finding his way round in Oz so one assumes Harry would be equally as astute!

And hey...with *Voyager's* return, everyone will be so ecstatic about their homecoming, all will be forgiven!

Otherwise, Tom probably has lots of friends Harry could get to know if the worst comes to the worst! I'm sure Harry would make new ones there as well. Maybe renew an old acquaintance? Become a prison guard? Create himself a new career as an investigative journalist?

Lots of possibilities. No need for Harry to be shy or concerned. :techman:

The other land down under dude.

CGI programmers from New Zealand graffitied the opening credits of TNG with the silhouette of our little country on Jupiter while Picard is monolouging in the worst French Accent ever. It's not there every season, they switch it up, but to me growing up, this was like a pledge of allegiance.

In revenge for tha gall of so few so long ago, Berman built a prison to lower our futurical property values.

So totally worth it.

Before he signed on with Voyager, Harry Kim was approached by a top, top-secret branch of the temporal police folks--their version of internal affairs.

They told him that if he should do whatever he could to deliberately contaminate the timeline so they could see whether the time cops were still on their toes. They promised to wipe from the timeline any future in which he was disciplined for said violations.

He was doing exactly what he was supposed to.

The original video was deemed a fake by "experts". A video editor whiz kid looking for fame got a hold of an original copy and created a "rough draft" version that made the original look like it was the final version of an elaborate hoax. This discredited the whole affair. A small band of cultists who called themselves "The Voyagers" were laughed at, eventually causing them to disband. In short order, it was all forgotten. No appreciable effect to the timeline. Harry Kim was saved from copious poop.
