I always find it a bit interesting to compare my experiences with other, and after bringing up the question of what Trek books people have read in another thread, it got me wondering about how many Trek books other posters have read. I then decided to expand it to comics, and to separate out novellas, short stories ect. So now it's time to answer the question, how many have I read. Well, when I looked up Star Trek on my good reads account it gave me 241 unique results, with comics collections and anthologies as one result, but it mixed up the read and not read which makes it hard to get an exact answer. So if I had to estimate, I'd probably say somewhere around 300. EDIT: Damn, I hit the wrong button on my keyboard and posted the thread before I was finished making the poll. Could a mod please add 500-1000, 1000-1500, 1500-2000, and 2000-All of them options to the poll.
I've got just over 50 novels (but haven't read all of them), plus a fair few I've borrowed from libraries. I've also got a few anthologies (lives of dax, strange new worlds) which I've counted as one each. So individual stories, I suppose it could well be over 100 afterall....
Have there really been over 2000 print Star Trek stories? I knew there'd been a lot, 1000+ to be sure (books alone are upwards of 600, right?), but that feels a little high to me. I mean, unless you're including fanwork?
Well, there are around 700 or 800 novels now, take it to account all the short stories and then the comic strips and one shot comics as well as normal comic runs, it might be reaching that number, or @JD is being generous with his estimate or what he's classifying for this.
Oh, are we up to that many? My number must've been out of date. And yeah, I entirely forgot about the strips and Gold Key too, which is probably part of it. Okay, 2000+ is a little more believable to me then.
I'm between 200-250. I picked 150-200, but I know I'm definitely over 200. I have a large set of unread TOS novels sitting on my shelf and a handful of recent ones waiting to be read.
According to TrekLitverse Reading Guide there are 2,278 individual stories (it doesn't appear to be counting episodes or movies) as of this month.
I've read hundreds. I own many more that I haven't read yet, and yes, I'm counting fanfic. Those stories may not be professionally published, but they're still Star Trek stories - and some of them did end up being edited and professionally published in either short story form ("Mind-Sifter") or novel form (Black Fire).
As near as I can tell from doing a quick rundown on my page there, I'm just shy of 700. I'm surprised it's that high!
It looks like Control just happened to be my 100th novel. I would have had no idea if not for this thread.
Across all media? Novel, short stories, comics, even fanfic? :: this plus that, plus that, plus that, carry the 9... :: A bunch, and like Daddy Todd and other old-schoolers, I've been doing it since the early 70s. Yikes.
I have consultet my excel sheet with my collection. It consists of approximately 500 Trek novels. There are several books I haven't read yet. So the total number of books is about 450. I don't have any statistics about single stories, though.
I've read all the Pocket books and other fiction except for about a third of the old numbered TOS books which I'm slowly getting to. And like other people here I've been reading them a long time.
I can't even begin to count. I do know I've read ALL of the numbered books for TOS, TNG and Voyager. I 'think' I've read all of the DS9 numbered stories too but can't remember. I finally caught up on the TNG and Voyager re-launch. Am current on Titan and the DS9 re-launch. I haven't started Enterprise yet or Vanguard. Short stories, comics and Shatner novels...I have no idea. It's all a bit of a blur.
I'd say where you start getting high numbers is in the comics. i've been reading everything on the Complete Comics Collection DVD for several years now and that's what really gave me a high total.
