How many times did Picard and Riker try to blow up the Enterprise?

Wonderlust King

Captain
Captain
It seems like at least once a season and couple times in the movies they turned on the self destruct sequence. Were they really that determined to destroy the ship?

Can anyone get me an actual number though of how many times they have turned on the auto destruct?

Four.

11001001
Where Silence Has Lease
First Contact (The movie, not the episode)
Nemesis

And that's it, as far as I remember. It was actually no more common on TNG than a saucer-seperation.

JANEWAY: COMPUTER! BLOW THE SHIP UP!
COMPUTER: You are aware the autodestruct system is not a toy?
JANEWAY: Yeah yeah. Make the ship blow up in 90 seconds unless I say otherwise.
COMPUTER: *sigh* Auto-destruct enabled. Ship will explode in 90 seconds.

at least 4 times ? It was like the writers secretly wanted to tell you something. ijust caugh tone of Patrick Stewart's Eleventhe Hour Episodes. His relaxation of Accent control was hard to get used to !

Saucer separation count:
Encounter at Farpoint
Arsenal of Freedom
BoBW
Generations

Did I miss any? If not, then the two occurrences were equally common.

Which would be why I used that specific example. ;)

It seems like a pretty low number to me. I don't see why everybody is acting like there's something out of the ordinary.

Yeah, it's not that many. Proportionally about the same as the number of times Kirk set the E to blow up (2 - Let that Be Your Last Battlefield and STIII). However, I believe it happened more often than Janeway landed Voyager.

This isn't counting the times the ship was actually blown up in Cause and Effect and in the one where time froze. Then when Worf was transferred from universe to universe one of the Enterprises blew itself up. Now that I think of it the ship blew up a whole lot more than the self destruct sequence was activated.
