How long do you think the comic Star Wars Legacy will go on for?

How many issues do you think it will run for? By now, it's reached its 45th issue and I'm just wondering how long it will be before we reach the home stretch of the Legacy story.

I think LEGACY is just a regular ongoing. I haven't seen anything to indicate that there's some set ending they're working towards. Hopefully it'll be around for a long time to come as it's my favorite bit of the expanded universe.

Knights of the Old Republic just had its 50th issue come out a few weeks ago.
I say as long as they(Legacy,KotOR) can maintain a profit and people are enjoying them there is no reason they need to end.
Now if this was Marvel or DC the guys in charge over there the last decade would say its time to restart it to allow "new" fans a chance to jump onboard. ;)

Then return to the original numbering just in time for an anniversary issue. Than cancel the book and relaunch it as NEW STAR WARS LEGACY.

Man, I am a bit behind on my Legacy; I think I left off at 35-ish. In the middle of an Arc where Cade is being hunting my bounty hunters on Tatoonie.

Too late for KOTOR - #50 was the end.

I think Legacy will end if Ostrander decides to leave. Rather than continue the series with another writer, Dark Horse may decide to just end it. This is pretty much Ostrander and Duursema's book, and while there have been a few fill-ins for Duursema when she needed a break, Ostrander's written every single issue thus far. I'd be really surprised if they're still on the book by issue #75, even more so if they reach #100...

But even if Legacy ends, it's likely that another creative team will launch another series in this same era, but perhaps with new characters (and perhaps characters from Legacy) carrying it forward.

As far as Legacy currently is concerned, there are a few things that Ostrander is deliberately holding out on us apparently, such as the fate of the Solos as well as that of a certain protocol droid...

^It has been speculated that the Fel royal family is descended from Jaina and Jag.
Speculated, but still not confirmed. I'm kind of thinking they're going to leave that until those in charge of the novel line do something with Jaina/Jag.

KotOR may have ended, but John Jackson Miller is moving on to a new series called Knight Errant, which will be set one thousand years before the movies (likely during the conflict that led up to the Jedi vs. Sith/Darth Bane period).

Yeah, I've heard about that speculation, but it hasn't been addressed in the series yet. It might be something that Ostrander is saving off for later. Could be some surprises with that, who knows?

Well, I certainly hope that Legacy continues past #50, but the solicitation for #49 says that "The end is near".

I don't think that the "end is near" reference is towards the book itself, but towards the Galactic Alliance. The situation with Admiral Stazi's campaign against the Sith has been brewing since the early issues of the series. I suspect that things will come to a head for Stazi in issue #50, which will prompt a major turning point afterward...

I've been curious about this as well. I just finished reading trade number six I think "Storms" and wondering where all of this is leading and if Cade will ever finally embrace his "destiny" as a Skywalker and become a Jedi Knight once more. The Fel family lineage has been the source of much speculation indeed among fans and as stated above been suggested that Jania and Jag started it. It is an interesting question because I've been curious if Star Wars Fate of the Jedi the novels are a set up for Legacy in anyway. There doesn't seem much of a plan for the Star Wars Expanded Universe right now.

The problem with Legacy and then connecting it to the current EU is that I don't think whoever ultimately oversees the EU side of the business wants to limit the authors writing it by having Legacy cement what happened. IF Legacy laid out there that Jag and Jaina got together and the Fel line is descended from him and that Jaina started up a Jedi faction within the imperial remnant it limits what they can do story-wise.

Although you can see some hints at that being a future coming to pass from what's going on in the new Galactic Alliance (or whatever the government is called now) and how they're cracking down on the Jedi. Luke was banished from the order for a year? I think it was and the government is treating Jedi much like the whole marvel superhero registration stuff.

Maybe so, but they can't just keep treading water with Jaina and Jag forever. Especially if they keep jumping ahead five years with every new (annoying) mega-uber series.
