How do you all handel stress?

I supress it! It makes me think clearly in the crucial moment, but it comes back to bite me later. I've been learning Tai chi to help me direct it away from myself.

J.

I think I suppress it until I get in the car. Then I scream and curse at all the shitty drivers on the road!

Outside the car, you'd never even know I was capable of being loud.

I learned by years of playing video games on the hardest possible level for like 8-or-more-hour stretches a day, per game. When real life stresses happened, they seemed like child's play in comparison.

Have you been in many situations where you have to keep running just fast enough to prevent the real-life screen edge catching up with you and killing you? :D

That would be my ultimate nightmare.

So much so, I'm not even sure if I'm joking any more...

Oh, you mean like in the Contra series? I hated that part of the game.

Yeah. Exactly.

Here's something. Try getting an AWESOME rating on Burnout Revenge in the Eternal City Preview track. That's stress and that's my video.

That is cool. I need to dig out my copy again sometime. Wouldn't get anywhere close to that time though!

I do a few things to combat stress, certainly something we all face during these uncertain times -

First of all, I take Wellbutrin. Been taking it for years and have resigned myself to the fact that I'll probably be on it forever. I have chronic clinical depression...and a bunch of additional stress doesn't help. So I make sure and take that pill.

I walk/jog on the treadmill - and this is not strolling, I'm talking about. I intentionally try to exhaust myself, to work the stress out of my body. I'm working my way back into a serious running program...mostly because when I was younger, running really helped with stress and depression. Nothing like letting those endorphins loose to make you feel better. Runner's high? It's for real.

I try to eat healthier. I'm not sure how much this helps with the actual stress, but it helps me avoid heartburn, which I tend to get more often when I'm under alot of stress. Plus...hey...any little bit helps, right?

I try to get out and get some sunlight, even if it's just for a little while. I don't have SADS or anything...but light is good, I think.

I make sure to get enough sleep. If my brain won't turn off because of worries and stresses, after all of the above steps, I take Tylenol PM if I have to. This might not be the best option...but not sleeping is certainly not going to help matters.

Finally, I try to get lost in something - a TV show I have on DVD that I really love (good word, Holdfast - 'comfort TV' - I have a few shows like that - NCIS is one....LOST is another. Shows were I REALLY like the cast so much that simply watching these people makes me feel better - like 'my world may be going to hell in a handbasket...but Leroy Jethro Gibbs will never change' Shows like this give me a feeling of 'stability' for some odd reason...), a good book (if I can concentrate) or playing The Sims. I might even go to a matinee movie to get my mind off things. The key is to find something that will take my mind off things for at least a couple of hours a day.
