This thread is inspired by the "Hottest Women" thread, where I was interested to note how many people met over the internet. This seems to be more and more common among people I know IRL too, and had kinda made me curious to see how attached TBBS members met their significant other.

I met my fiancee on a dating site about 4 years ago. I was coming off of a bad breakup, and I was really just looking for a rebound. I never would have guessed that we would be getting hitched in sunday after next!

If you're currently single, feel free to substitute your longest lasting past relationship.

I met my husband in high school. He claims we met junior year, but I don't remember meeting him until senior year. I didn't notice him for awhile because I'd only go over to his table to talk to one of his friends that I had a crush on.

Eventually, we had more classes together and I found him interesting. I had a boyfriend so it didn't get further than that. Besides, I thought he found me annoying, and he was actually falling in love. After graduation, we started hanging out together more that summer and by the time we had to leave for our separate colleges, all I wanted to do was sit and hold his hand because I knew I was going to miss him so much.

A few weeks later we went to visit some friends together at another college. It was cold outside, so he gave me his hoodie to wear. We ended up cuddling while watching a movie, and I fell asleep like that. That was about eight years ago. We just had our one year wedding anniversary. :)

I met my wife in high school. She was 14 and I was 17. I graduated and moved. She moved, too. We stayed in touch. Three years later, she came to see me and hasn't left since.

I should mention, that while we met on a dating site, we chatted for several days on messenger before I asked her out.

I made a joke about showing her my vast collection of Star Trek action figures. When I added a "just kidding!", she replied that it was too bad, as she really liked Trek.

We met the next day :bolian:

Work. I am a computer tech, and she is a computer user. She needed something fixed, she was hot so I asked her out. We had a period of a few years where we were broken up, but now it is almost 5 years later, and we are trying to get her pregnant with marriage on the horizon.

I've met a few people off the internet but mostly just end up as friends. I'm single at the moment but my most significant relationship I've had (not longest) was with a girl I met whilst I worked at Disneyworld.

Very long story short....

I met my wife 9 1/2 years ago at a rock show at a local club. We've been married for 7 years.

I met my boyfriend of 5 years through his best friend...who I was dating at the time. :shifty:

No hard feelings though. We're all great friends because we know each other so well!

I'm currently unattached, but I met my first significant other at school. (He was my high school sweetheart, and we talked about getting married. I'm glad we didn't, but that's another story.) For my longest relationship, I met him at church.

The longest relationship I ever had began at school. Others were met at clubs/bars, random encounters*, and through friends.

Never on teh internets.

* bookstores, gyms, etc.

I'm unattached now, but I met my longest lasting relationship at a powwow I was attending with my girlfriend and a woman I was dating.

At college. Actually all of my relationships (and even friendships now that I think about it) were with people I met from school.

Church, of course! Don't know HOW I missed that possibility.

^tsk. Also hooked up by family,

I met my fiancee a bit over three years. It was right before I moved from Cincinnati to DC. I was in town for the medical checkup the new job required me to have. I went back to my college to say hi to an old friend. He introduced me to his circle of friends over lunch at the cafeteria. Among them was my future fiancee, then in a relationship she'd now like to forget,. Mind you it was a very bad year for her. Until I went back to school almost three years later, I rarely saw her.

But when we were dating last winter, she told me her mother told her she got a feeling that my fiancee met "the one" around the time I first met her.

Supermarket, frozen food section. She was trying to buy all the Hot Pockets but I talked her out of it, talked her into going out with me and eventually... :)
