How did this happen?

Many years ago Fox was mostly worthless TV filled with shitty sit-coms that came and went faster than a teenage boy watching scrambled Cinemax, The Simpsons and not a whole lot else.

I mean, there's was pretty much NOTHING worth watching on it.

Today, it has some of the best shows on TV, four of which are my favorites (House, 24, Prison Break and Terminator:TSCC).

When did Fox pull it's head out of its ass and start making GOOD shows.

(They still get many points off for axing Firefly, though.)

I'm pretty sure that it happened when they realized that The X-Files was one of their best shows, and that they should make more shows like it rather than crappy comedies. Not coincidentally, this was around the same time that they got the NFC broadcast rights.

The X-Files, ANOTHER good one they had.

Barring American Idol the channel doesn't do all that well ratings wise. I think the biggest drama they have is House (also the only FOX show I watch).

OT: Two of the shows you mention though aren't made by Fox.

House - NBC Universal
Terminator - Warner Brothers Television

Actually, I think that FOX sucks more now than ever. I only watch 24 and Fringe (that's a FOX show, right?). I remember watching it a lot more when I was younger.

Oh, I forgot about Fringe being on FOX. I watch that, too, and it is one of the few hits of the season so I guess that counts as something.

FOX is willing to take more chances with ideas than CBS, ABC, or NBC. As much as I loathe Rupert Murdoch and especially FOX News chief Roger Ailes, at least they are willing to take chances.

I think FOX needs to keep it up, considering they are really one of the few networks that still air one hour dramas and not just on two days a week...

They could be awesome again, they just need to STOP CANCELING SHOWS THAT HAVE SUPPORT!

Indeed, they just need to let their "chances" have more time to prosper than five eps...

House: I can't stand it, sorry. I have no idea what people see in that loathsome jackass. I already have plenty of loathsome jackasses to deal with at work, so the appeal mystifies me.

24: seems to be making a comeback from near-death due to atrocious drop in quality. Jury is still out on how long this very thin premise can endure. They are already repeating repeats of themselves.

Prison Break: gaaahh...kill it already.

Terminator: TSCC
: nice try, but the premise is just too thin to support an ongoing series.

Fringe: if I were in charge, that crap would be cancelled already.

So, no, Fox isn't very impressive. Outside of Lost and maybe Chuck, all the good stuff is on cable. Network TV is a disgrace.

What a Downer Debbie you are...

I kind of agree with him... house is Okay, but Prison Break, Terminator, Fringe, and just about all the non-animated shows on Fox... suck.
