How did picard's mind melds affect him?

safarial

Lieutenant Commander
Red Shirt
After he melded with Spock, and Sarek, how do you think they affected him, on, and odd screen?

I heard a rumor that the degenerative brain disorder he had in the "All Good Things" future was actually a result of his mind-meld with Sarek when Sarek had his disease.

An interesting question. I'm sure not only the miind-melds, but all the other mucking around with Picard's mind just in the eight years he was in command of Enterprise-D could all have something to to with it. After all, he was assimilated by the Borg, had the life experience of a dead man zapped into his brain, and was taken over by an entity in Lonely Among Us. -- RR

Mind-melds have got to be a bit trying after a while. Trying to make sense of all those memories/emotions... years of psychotherapy beckon! :D

I agree. Considering all the weird shit that happened to Picard the mindmelds with Spock and Sarek were probably not all that traumatic.

There is actually a story that considers the ramifications of Picard's various mind messing experiences, Perchance to Dream .

Hey, I read the synopsis and it sounds interesting. I always thought Picard still had the personalities of all those folks -- Kamin, Locutus -- rattling around in that noggin of his. I'm sure there are specialists at Starfleet Medical who treat officers afflicted with such mental invasions. -- RR

He learned how to do the Vulcan nerve pinch (Starship Mine).

How Data learned it, I'm not quite sure...

Years later, Picard and Wesley are once again sharing a shuttlecraft journey. Picard, out of cultural curiosity, decides to accept Wesley's kind invitation to join him in consuming some hallucinogens the Traveler turned him onto.
The next 6 hours involve Picard freaking out, stripping his clothes off, trying to beam off the shuttle(to purify himself), destroy the consoles, hallucinating, laughing hysterically, crying, releasing bodily fluids, speaking gibberish, but finally, when it's all over, the other personalities are gone. But Wesley, poor Wesley has seen too much, and he has an embarrassing stain on his uniform.
