With the African American vote going for Democrats more than 90% even before Barack Obama and the Hispanic vote for Republicans nosediving in 2008 (after reaching 42% in 2004), conventional wisdom has been that the GOP has to reach out to minorities to attract support in order to remain competitive.
Or does it?
Why not go the other way?
Why shouldn't the GOP make a major effort to win more of white voters.
IIRC, the percentage of white voters in presidential elections is still something like 70% or better. If the Republican Party could increase their percentage of the white vote to 70-75% then they could win most elections without requiring a single vote from blacks or Hispanics.
This sounds like a far easier task than pealing away a few percent of the voters going overwhelmingly for Democrats.
So what can the GOP do to attract more white voters?
