Good morning, I'm Dr. Gregory House, I'm one of three doctors staffing this clinic this morning. This ray of sunshine is Dr. Lisa Cuddy. Dr. Cuddy runs this whole hospital so unfortunately she's much too busy to deal with you. I am a board-certified diagnostician with a double specialty of infectious disease and nephrology. I'm also the only doctor currently employed at this clinic who's forced to be here against his will. That is true, isn't it? But not to worry, because for most of you this job could be done by a monkey with a bottle of Motrin. Speaking of which, if you're particularly annoying you may see me reach for this. It's Vicodin - it's mine, you can't have any. And no, I do not have a pain-management problem, I have a pain problem. But who knows - maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'm too stoned to tell. So who wants me and who wants to wait for the other two guys?

From TV.com:
House engages in a battle of wits and wills against the attending physician in charge of his detox program. When he starts to lose, House resorts to blackmail to gain the upper hand.

TV's second most favorite cranky doctor returns with new episodes Monday night with a double-length episode, so I am getting a jump on this thread in the interest of reminder and pre-season discussion.

:)

$50 says he gets out at the end of the second episode?

He does but the episode covers a very long period of time and once he gets out he has to move in with Wilson so that makes it okay IMO. Fomr what I understand he stays with Wilson for a very long time, at least through episode 8.

I'll be watching this online. The girlfriend is forcing me to watch Dancing With the Stars...

*sigh*

Unfortunately I won't be able to watch until at least mid-November. I'm sure the episodes will be well worth the wait.

That's bullshit.

God, why do they have no balls?

Because House, historically, hasn't done long-term antagonistic story arcs particularly well. The Vogler arc in season one was the weakest part of season one, and the Tritter arc in season three ran too long and was too unfocused.

But does tha mean he looses his 221 B Baker street address? permanently? I always loved that in-joke

Because, like a said before, the writing on the show is garbage.

At least half the season should have him in the hospital, but the writers are wimps. "It will cover a long period of time", who the fuck cares if we can't see that period of time!

All shows do this now, House, Bones did it last week, same with Fringe, the season finale we are one place and the next episode you go "Did I miss several episodes?" and the backtrack from there.

Mad Men, The Wire and The Sopranos all jump around but they're still considered some of the best television shows. As long as it's done right then it shouldn't be a problem.

I'll be missing it because I've got a Folklore Club meeting, but I will be catching up later that night...

Joy

I suspect that House will either get back onto his original apartment/town home or in another "221 B" to maintain that in-joke.

I just saw a commercial for "Broken" while flipped through my television channels, and I didn't realize Andre Braugher was in the episode, as the head of the psychiatric hospital.

He would make an awesome antagonist for House long-term. Oh, pretty pretty please!

Hopefully they'll bring him back often.
