Excellent episode, if not one of the best in the entire series. So sad and very powerful (Emmy nom) in my eyes and wow Cuddy has a kid at last, I think House knows he can never have a relationship with her :( I think if Cuddy gets the adoption, then she will want to work less and we could lose the first main character from this show.

Cuddy is not going to get to keep that baby. The parents lost their only child- they would change their mind and want to keep her baby.

Except this show already did the plot where Cuddy lost the baby she was going to adopt because the mother changed her mind. They wouldn't repeat it. This time it's for real.

Gave it a "Good" rating. But the clinic patients were almost enough to push it into an "Excellent" just by virtue of their being there; so it's mostly inbetween.

Part of me just wants Cuddy to get the baby at last. Indeed I think she's going to, even if only because they've already robbed her of one this season; I think these writers are just a little too smart to repeat themselves like that, so unless they've got something pretty dang amazing up their sleeves, this is it.

Scarily accurate predictions on Foreteen. It'll be interesting to see how this gets handled.

I knew Wilson was pulling Kutner and Taub's legs from the moment he said "Irene Adler", of course, though I missed the Joseph Bell reference (sounded familiar, though). Nice to see that either they're doing their research or there's at least one real fan of Holmes working on the show, because that's a relatively obscure one.

Joseph Bell as Doyle's inspiration for Holmes isn't as obscure as it used to be. A few years back, there was a British TV series (shown on Mystery in the states) with Ian Richardson as Dr. Bell, solving Holmes-type mysteries with the young Arthur Conan Doyle as his Watson equivalent. I thought the conceit was better than the mysteries, though.

I have to correct something that's come up several times.

"Immaculate conception" is NOT virgin birth. Christ was not an "immaculate conception." The Virgin Mary birth was the immaculate conception.

Huh??

Wikipedia explains it thusly:
The Immaculate Conception is, according to Roman Catholic dogma, the conception of the Virgin Mary without any stain ("macula" in Latin) of original sin. It is sometimes also called the Immaculata, particularly in artistic contexts. The dogma thus says that, from the first moment of her existence, she was preserved by God from the lack of sanctifying grace that afflicts mankind, and that she was instead filled with divine grace. It is further believed that she lived a life completely free from sin.[1] Her immaculate conception in the womb of her mother, by sexual intercourse, should not be confused with the doctrine of the virginal conception of her son Jesus.

So basically, I guess, the idea is that she had to be untainted by sin so that she could be the vessel for the pure divine goodness of Christ.
