Honestly... I'm not sure what to say about this video.

:wtf:

What were they smoking back in the 60s?!

Well, I say it's classic comedy.

The funniest thing is either the odd and creepy Ape masks, which I'm guessing they used to make the suggested violence less shocking, or the fact that it's a bicycle safety video where no one is wearing a helmet. Instead they wear Ape masks, which in itself is likely unsafe.

Heh, i've been a fan of One Got Fat for a couple of years now. If you do a youtube search for Coronet Instructional Films you'll come up with a whole range of doozies from that era. Its fun, try it. :rommie:

AFAIK, bicycle helmets didn't even exist when this film was made. At least, there were no such things when I was a kid riding my bike around the San Fernando Valley.

Safety, schmafety. Bicycle helmets look dorky.

I feel bad for that kid who doesn't have a bike and constantly has to run alongside everyone. WTF, he died from having to run around with them because his bike got stolen?

Umm...ok

I don't think he "died" but did suffer from fallen arches. :wtf:

Yeah, I don't think bike-helmets exsisted when this video was made, or if they did exsist they weren't common. Hell, in 1963 seatbelts hardly exsisted.

This reminds me of an old safety film of the crash test dummy that escapes from the test lab because they didn't buckle him in the test car!

If you are relaying some kind of guideline, it would be best to stop asking me to verify your statements. Right? Right!

OK I got to 3 minutes and gave up.
Can someone tell me what it's about and why it's called "One Got Fat"?

But you don't have to go out of your way. It seemed like a waste of time.

Only one kid survives. Therefore, all the bagged lunches became his, & thus he was fattened by them. Hence, the moral of the story is that being stupid limits the amount of gluttony one can achieve :p

Damn it that doesn't even seem like a uselful way to teach bicycle safety or anything!
I had a shops teacher in junior high that would warn us that he hated the sight of blood...so be careful. Not logical as I'd be worrying more about my own fingers than if he was to be dismayed at the sight of my blood.

Thanks for your repsonse!

He probably thought he was being witty.

They didn't exist in the seventies, either. I never saw one being worn until the mid-eighties...

...and the less said about seatbelts, the better. If we only knew then what we know now... (but we didn't and can't judge yesterday by today's standards)
