hope for Reaper renewal? and more buzz on renewals

Maybe, just maybe, the lack of new material caused by the WGA strike will help some of the bubble shows this year.

"Reaper": The word on CW's cult-favorite supernatural dramedy has turned unexpectedly positive. Though recent episodes have pulled about a 1.1 rating, the CW needs a suitable Thursday night partner for "Supernatural" as next season is expected to be the last for "Smallville." Plus, after adding DVR use, "Reaper" ratings often climb a higher percentage than any other series, and CW executives are fond of the show.
The suits are fond of the show?!? :wtf: Okay...didn't think they'd like anything that failed to draw the coveted 11-13 year old female demo...pretty soon they'll be programming for fetuses. :p

Moonlight
seems to be a likely pickup; Eli Stone is a maybe.

CBS has a solid lineup on Friday that doesn't have to be a monster ratings-grabber to win the night. Of course, I was also under the impression that Close to Home was a successful show for them on that night.

Also, wasn't Moonlight getting higher ratings before the strike? If CBS were to ax it because of post-strike numbers (and considering they didn't even air reruns during the hiatus), it would be Jericho all over again.

Though wasn't Shark a monster hit its first season? They move it to another time slot for season two and then cancel it?

Same thing kept Veronica Mars around for three years....and also contributed to its creative erosion. It's a double-edged sword.

For some reason I find myself unable to really get into Reaper like I have other shows. I still watch it, though.

Men In Trees became the latest show to be cancelled today but I like the reading of this...

Boston Legal": A recent episode of "Legal" hit a series low but, then again, what show hasn't? Given a strong lead-in, "Legal" tends to hold a reliable number. It's also an Emmy darling. A likely pickup.

I still have hope that the number of people for the show inside ABC will do enough to squeeze out some sort of 5th and final season.

Of all the on-the-bubble shows, more US TODAY readers voted REAPER more worthy of CANCELLATION than Renewal.

Of course, we are talking about US TODAY readers...I mean, is there a lower lifeform? :p

They're probably more representative of viewers than we are, but I doubt the CW cares about their opinions because only old people (meaning over 12 years old) read newspapers anymore. :p

Not sure if this means anything in terms of Reapers renewal but Jessica Stroup who played Cady was cast in the 90210 spinoff on the CW. 90210 casting
