Honoring the man who killed then saved Star Trek

Cool. But the consistent misspelling of "Nemoy" is a bit bizarre.

Indeed. The article is rife with misspellings. I guess this is some kind of local paper, but I don't even see that many errors in the Washington Post, and they've gotten pretty bad over the years!

As are the couple of wrong spellings of the subject of the interview: "Bennet."

How did Bennett kill Star Trek and then save it?

Says in the article…

Bennett jokes that he is the "man that killed Star Trek" as his successful Mod Squad was competition for Star Trek's third season.

Then he saved it...

he was brought on to help reboot the Star Trek feature film franchise after the first film met with fan dissatisfaction and worry at Paramount Studios. Bennett conceived of a continuation of the original series episode“Space Seed”, an idea which became Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Following the success of that film…
