I've never heard of this until now.

On the night of 10 March 1988 (at least) two fervent Star Trek fans had broken onto the Paramount lot. Wandering through the darkened sets of Star Trek: The Next Generation (circa season one), the fans were able to light select parts of the sets, including most of the ship's display terminals and part of the warp core. Dressed in a makeshift Starfleet uniform (with white socks), one of the fans acted as the host of what was likely intended to be a homemade documentary - at one point climbing onto a sickbay biobed, then accidentally knocking it to the floor. Taking still photographs of the various "working" control panels, the fans can be heard discussing ways of removing set pieces from the stage.

"Get my FUCKING attache case you fuck!

I need to take some fucking PICTURES!

Captain Stone, bitches! Peace!"

Geez, what a pair of morons. :wtf: :vulcan:

Not that I can really say I'm surprised at this kind of stupidity. :guffaw: Do we think Paramount beefed up security after this incident?

I have heard stories of props going missing (phasers and tricorders mostly), and that they started stamping the bottom of them with unique numbers in the movie era so that if the props were ever sold on, they'd be able to identify them as ones that were stolen. Don't know how true that is though.

I think I watched that film. That's the one where they accidentally activate the transporter and end up in the cell where the CIA keeps the Gorn, right?

I remember this. It made me wonder, did they ever use the sliding console feature in engineering in an episode?

So the transporter room buttons actually did shit? LOL

EDIT: So who's voice is that at the end? Did these losers get caught? Who uploaded this footage?

EDIT2: Can anyone confirm this reader comment from jcarter1701 at this site?
Hey, Seb!

I saw your great and funny story on the paramount interlopers and wanted to provide you a piece of info. “Captain’s stone’s” little friend is none other than “Ralph Miller”, the very same person who is currently working the sound effects over at “New Voyages” fansite! I haven’t seen this video in over 10 years, at some of the Vegas conventions, and it was a riot then, and still is, THANKS!

James
EDIT3: And from this site:
That little party animal is Greg Stone. He even states his name on the video.

I saw some of this video many years ago but it looks like i had not seen it all. And those 4 parts do not show it all as well.

Mr. Stone called me on the phone one day about the Full Scale Shuttle thread I think it was on ASAP. What a tool-shed

I should have asked him about this event then

Stone seems to post his own comments at the above link. Don't know if it's really him or not.

EDIT4: Memory Alpha again:
Born as Gregory Ray Stone in Los Angeles, California, he was raised in Long Beach, California. Earlier, Stone worked as broadcaster on the Long Beach radio station KLON on which he hosted the show Stone Trek, a show about the 1960s music. Stone started to work as an actor but soon moved over to the special effects department where he got his first job on The Next Generation in 1987.

In 1990 Stone became embroiled in an incident that has resulted in the hardening stance of the studio, already wary of doing so, of hiring fans as production staffers, as then makeup artist Doug Drexler and stand-in performer Guy Vardaman recalled in the Trek Radio Q&A interview session of 22 January 2011: "[Drexler:] They also had serious problems, like, I remember there was a videotape that was made by, I am not going to mention any names, of someone who snuck onto the stage wearing a Starfleet uniform, and took videos of himself and going through the sets and giving a tour of the ship. [Vardaman:] And breaking the clam shell in sickbay and messed up our shooting schedule the next day, do you remember that? [Drexler:] Yeah, yes I remember, and that, that really set the precedent." [X]wbm Stone was already known for quite some time in the Star Trek fan community, despite Drexler's hesitation to divulge names, as his video, in which he identified himself, had, on and off, been circulating on the internet for years. [1] Stone, having also been involved in leaking behind-the-scenes information the year previously (some of which published in The 24th Century Technical Manual), has not been working for the studio since.
According to MA, though, he continued to work on the show until the third season.(?)

God, the more google searches I do, the crazier this story gets.
#2 & 3) We offer this pair of CONTROL BOARD PANELS from “Star Trek: The Next Genration” television series. They are made of a heavy thick plastic. When light is placed behind it the control panels appear to light up. Originally obtained from Greg Stone who worked on “Star Trek: The Next Generation.” Each panel is 41 inches long by 14″ wide.
Good luck!!
"Obtained" indeed.

How's my hair?

EDIT-lost-count: Okay, final edit, this is it -- a youtube comment from Gabriel Koerner:
What's hilarious is that the guy in the bath robe at 2:35 in the bathrobe is actually an old friend of mine. I did a spit take. And got confirmation that it is actually him.

it seems really odd that they would let him keep working on the show after this happened.

It sort of makes me angry that a "fan" would steal from star trek like that.

More from Koerner at the youtube link. You can't make this shit up.
The camera man got away. Captain Stone was caught by the security lady but was able to escape by faking a heart attack because she was working alone and her job requires her to go get help
Too bad they didn't get that on video for the big finish.

From "David West:"
I tweeted this to Michael Okuda (graphic artist for Star Trek) Here is his reply to me : "Jerks snuck into the stage, broke and stole stuff. They cost prep time and $$ that could have gone into the show.
Facebook:
Michael & Denise Okuda: Those jerks not only stole stuff from the set, but they caused damage, costing us prep time and money. Hardly the behavior you'd expect from people who profess to like Star Trek. The voice chasing them is that of Paramount security officer Elaina Vesico.
I notice there's some defensive comments on the Youtube video from a "G Stone", wonder if it's actually him.
I hope it's not him, because there are some really bizarre comments.

EDIT: Something "Captain" Stone just posted at this link. It seems he and Ralhp Miller had a bit of a falling out. He doesn't mention his escapade with Miller (if that was Miller) on the TNG set, though.

And at this link, our own Mutai Sho-Rin speaks to the infamous Captain Stone!

Gabe Koerner also confirmed on Facebook that it is Ralph Miller as the cameraman, but has since deleted the comment. At least, he's deleted the comment where he confirms it, but left up the one where he mentions the possibility.

At 00:18

Captain guy: "How's it look?"

Camera guy: "Like a cameo."

Captain guy: "Like a camera?"

Camera guy: "Cameo."

*facepalm*

These guys prove there are people who're not swift enough to be cast in a "Jackass" movie....
