Home From Work Due to Stomach Bug of Eeeeeevil...

Snaploud

10 hours in the bathroom on Saturday. 6 hours in the emergency room. Still haven't had a real meal since Friday... I'm about 90% better (even went into work yesterday but my colleagues told me I should stay home today if I still wasn't feeling better).

Unfortunately, my fiancee has the bug now, so that's the other half of why I'm home today. On the plus side, she'll be able to avoid my mistakes (hint: food or water intake = not helpful in the first 24 hours), and she has some prescription anti-nausea medicine.

6 hours in the emergency room? I'm sorry to hear that. Do you know which 'bug' it is?

Technically three hours in the waiting room and three hours in an emergency room bed (a lot of the time with an empty IV stuck in me). They were really understaffed late Saturday night.

I'm not sure the name of the bug, though. They just said it wasn't a good idea to drink water or eat food until I was feeling a lot better and then only clear liquids and very very bland food like crackers for a while.

Ah... I feel for you. From the way you describe it, I just had the same thing recently. Couldn't eat for three days. The worst bug I ever had.

Get well soon!

There are some really grotty stomach viruses floating about this time of year. Glad you're starting to feel better. If it was norovirus, it's amazing transmissible. Stay away from work/others until you're truly better or you'll just end up infecting everyone

Ugh, I had something similar just recently though I think it may have been food poisoning. It was amazing when I was able to eat a single cracker.

Hope you feel better soon!

When I had norovirus over a year ago, I thought it was food poisoning, it came on that suddenly. It can be hard to tell.

Yeah, I won't know I suppose. Actually two days after that came on, I was starting to recover and then caught a cold from my husband. I'm just getting back to normal now.

Normal normal? Or Kestra normal? :p

My fiancee wasn't doing so well, so we ended up in the emergency room again (from about 11pm to 4am). She's doing better now.

I've been off work all week because I've almost completely lost my voice due to strep throat (my job involves a fair amount of yelling). I was feeling pretty sorry for myself until I read this thread. Get well soon.

Thanks. You too, Colonel Green.
