Homage to Franz Joseph?

Did anyone else catch a peak of the orbital station that the Enterprise departs from?

It looks like the Federation Headquarters design that was in Franz Joseph's original Star Fleet Technical Manual.

It does seem to be based on that, yeah, with a big dollop of the orbital construction office from ST:TMP.

I thought that, so the station along with the Kelvin looking like its a mixture of the Saladin and one of Jefferies' early Enterprise concept sketches would indicate that the art team dug really deep beyond ILM references mentioned by Church.

Aren't they also using his choice of typeface for all the computer displays, Microgamma Extended I think it is...

Glad I wasn't the only one who felt that - my feelings about the new film are very mixed, and I doubt that will alter in any way other than becoming more mixed until the release, and possibly after, but for everything that makes me go "nah," something also comes along to make me say "yay," and this is definitely in the latter.

I believe the font is actually Korataki, which is similar to Microgamma Extended, but more rounded.
