What I'm most looking forward to?

AVATAR

Also looking forward to the Verbinski BioShock project. And I would be looking forward to the Gears of War project, but I'm not a huge fan of the director - so - meh, we'll see.

And a Terminator film directed by McG? McG?!! Ugh.

They can't possibly strike in this economy. They aren't coal workers fighting unsafe working conditions. The dow closed at 8579.19 today. Schwarzenegger asked for a 7 billion dollar loan for California last week. Striking is insanity. :cardie:

Orbit. Read the book-it will translate well on the big screen, but they'd better have a hell of a star to carry it.

Sony Pictures:
"2012" - The Roland Emmerich-helmed global disaster epic

How many will think this is involved with 2001?

"Angels & Demons" - The Tom Hanks-led 'Da Vinci Code' prequel

Probably a rental.

"The Green Hornet" - Stephen Chow-directed superhero film with Seth Rogen

I may see this in the theatre, depending on the trailer.

"Zombieland" - The Ruben Fleischer-directed zombie buddy movie

My signature says it all about this.

Walt Disney Pictures:

Nothing

20th Century Fox:
"The A-Team" - The John Singleton-directed film based on the 80's series

I may see it. They BETTER have a Cylon reference.

"Avatar" - The James Cameron-directed 3D sci-fi fantasy

Jim Cameron?!?!?! I'm sold. Just please don't have it reference the Titanic at all PLEASE.

"Orbit" - Thriller about a civilian stuck alone in space when a shuttle crew dies

Sounds intriguing.

MGM Films:
"RoboCop" - Darren Aronofsky-helmed remake of the sci-fi classic.

I'll be seeing it.

Marvel Studios:
"Iron Man 2" - The Jon Favreau-directed sequel with Robert Downey Jr.

After finally seeing Iron-Man last night I will probably see this opening night. I want it to pick up immediately after the last scene of the first film though. That was a bad place to end. But at least it left me wanting more.

Nothing interesting me.

New Line:
"Gears of War" - The Len Wiseman-helmed video game adaptation

I'll probably see this - but most likely not on opening weekend.

"A Nightmare on Elm Street" - The Wesley Strick-directed remake

I'll see it.

Paramount Pictures:
"Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" - The robot action-fueled sequel

I'll rent it.

Universal Pictures:

Sorry nothing.

Warner Bros. Pictures:
"Terminator Salvation" - The McG-helmed sci-fi action sequel"

Um signature.

As I understand, the Robocop movie is not a remake, but rather a follow up, set 20 years after the last one and the Robocop program has been disbanded for a long while, but being brought back.

^ It depends on where you read about it. Some articles describe it as a remake of the first. Some as a sequel. And some as both at the same time.

They can't possibly strike in this economy. They aren't coal workers fighting unsafe working conditions.

And since they're not, the impact of their strike on the overall national economy will not be enormous - it may, however, force the studios to bargain reasonably. Not a thing insane about it.

Incorrect.

Peter Sciretta: Back to Robocop, is it going to be a sequel or is it a remake.

Darren Aronofsky: It’s absolutely unrelated to the original. As Mike Medavoy already went on the record. David Self and my team have been working really hard on it. It’s a completely new universe.

Peter Sciretta: Is it going to be set in the future, or is it going to be today?

Darren Aronofsky: It’s going to be the future. And it’s really great. We’ve got to nail the script then we’ve got to find a script that the studio wants to make. So we’ve got work to do…

Peter Sciretta: So tell me this, with The Fountain you did so many practical special effects, like that whole climax sequence… with Robocop would you be…

Darren Aronofsky: I have no idea. I have no idea. It’s so early, but I think cyborgs are really interesting, because… I think it’s so funny. I got an MRI. Here’s a funny story. The last day of shooting, Mickey made me jump off the top rope. He made the whole crew jump off the top rope. I went first, and it was the last day of shooting, after a grueling shoot. It was late at night, and I was wearing boots. I wasn’t even wearing sneakers and I jumped. I got over the top rope and my tip of my toe caught the top rope and I went bam! I landed on my fuckin’ head and on my neck. My neck was killing me for five weeks, so I went to get MRI. I’m fine, but to take an MRI, you can’t have any metal on your body because it’s basically a giant magnet. So there’s a check list of probably 30 things that you could have. Like an eyelid shutter, pacemakers, re-implants. I couldn’t believe the different types of things that people have in their bodies. And I realized you know what? We are in a cyborg culture, we are part cyborg already. It’s only a matter of time till we have the cell phones in our head and the mp3 players in our ears…

Peter Sciretta: And it’s all going to get more nano too.

Darren Aronofsky: Yeah, so there are a lot of interesting themes out there that connect even more than when Verhoeven did it. And I have full 100 percent respect for that, but I kind of don’t even want to go near that territory, except for the “bitches, leave!” line. [laughs] Otherwise I think that’s the only shout out to the movie we’ll have.

Okay I'm a little confused. So there's two Avatar films comming out? Because on that list is Avatar plus another film called "The Last Airbender".

The Last Airbender - M. Night Shyamalan's adaptation of the Nick cartoon

Avatar - Jim Cameron's loooooong-awaited project with a mix of CG and live-action, avatar presumably used in the sense of a computer representation of a real person.
