Higgs Boson news

Re: Higgs Bosun news

We've found the Higgs? Again?

It seems that no data that could distinguished from background noise has been found yet, and no scientist has claimed that the Higgs has been seen in any sense and form.

Let's wait until some repeatable data comes out, at the moment any fluctuations caused by anything including instrumental glitches tend to look like the Higgs to everyone, we're too excited about it. Even if we have seen it, we still don't know that we have. ;)

Boson

Your title looks like a missing deck officer has been found.

Have they tried looking under the fridge? Stuff always rolls under the fridge. I bet it's under the fridge.

I noticed that later when I was looking at the main page.:p Maybe they're shipping particles? K/S Bosun particles, that's it.

Very true.

I fixed the thread title. It was really bugging me.

Thanks, RM

And more news, it looks like a swing and a miss.

The understanding of the Higgs displayed by the writer of that article is somewhat underwhelming. I also get the impression generally that most journalists don't grok how HE Physics experiments work. Perhaps what they really want to see is a glowing blue dot floating in a jar labelled "Higgs Boson" like a species of exotic butterfly.
