If ever there was a car to make Aussies hate Kiwis even more, this is it.
The Folden - a 1970s HQ Holden Kingswood sedan that’s had a 1969 Ford Mustang front end grafted on - has been built in New Zealand, with the aim of stirring up passionate Holden and Ford fans.
Jono Pryor and Robert Taylor host The Rock’s drive show, and they admit they've built the car as a means of kicking the beehive – they wanted to see what would happen if they stirred up people's passions.
“We came up with this outrageous idea about six months ago,” said Taylor during the unveiling of the Folden. “Ninety per cent of our listening audience are keen motorsport fans and [they’re] into cars and souping up of cars and racing of cars. So we thought why not poke a stick quite literally at them, and try and stir them up somehow.
“We found ourselves in a peculiar situation, too, where nobody else in their right sane mind would want to do this sort of thing – or at least waste the money, some might say, on doing it,” he said.
The project has reportedly cost the radio show between $85,000 and $95,000. But the money was well spent, as the car is being auctioned off on auction site TradeMe with a starting price of just $1.

And here's the auction:

Wicked. I don't really take notice of what I drive but I know some people do...

No, Never drive a Folden. I haven't driven a Ford or a Holden either or any other make of car.

Nope, not even for fun. I have never had the slightest interest in learning to drive. If you can't get there by bus it isn't worth going to.

Actually, the car doesn't look half bad. The Mustang front clip blends rather well with the angular Holden body.

Miss Chicken: I can't believe you're a grown woman who has never learned to drive. It's like finding out someone can't read or write, or doesn't know how to tie their own shoes.

Of course, I've lived all my life in Los Angeles, where cars aren't just transportation -- they're a way of life.

Within my family we have quite a few non-drivers

Father - could drive
Mother - went most of her life without driving. When my Dad became terminally my Mum got her license (at the age of 72)
Eldest sister - has never learnt to drive. He husband recently died and my sister is talking about learning to drive. She is 55.
Second sister - can drive.
Myself - never learnt
Brother - has never learnt. He is a lawyer and prefers to live in walking distance of wherever he works. Otherwise he catches buses, taxis, trams or trains (there are no passenger trains in Tasmania however, or trams)

None of my three sons drive.

My two best friends have never learnt to drive. They aren't interested in learning at all.

We have a good enough public transport system here. I managed to raise three children (two of the disabled) without a car. I can catch as many buses as I like for $3.00 a day (cost of a day tripper ticket for a pensioner or low income earner). I couldn't afford to run a car.
