:vulcan:If this movie does as well and brings a larger audience to Trek, might Star Trek become more popular than Star Wars? Could Star Wars become the new Star Trek? They've just had a mediocre theatrical release which has launched a kid-targeted animated series, their working on a live-action tv series, and the last 3 movies weren't nearly as good as they could have been. Do you guys think Star Trek and star Wars are switching places?:vulcan:

Reading all these interviews, you'd think Abrams and crew wants Trek to be like Star Wars.

^^Star Wars holds a special place because it was THE ONE to bring Sci-Fi action adventure to the big screen. Granted the most recent Lucasfilm efforts have been lackluster. Perhaps you have a point. SW is going small screen while ST is going big screen.
I've always felt there is room enough for both Star Trek and Star Wars in my world. Evidently, JJ Abrams & Co. feel the same way.

More so than the original "Star Wars?" No. Could it develop a more enthusiastic following than the SW prequels? Possibly.
