Help Needed Finding this YA SF Book Series

There was a juvenile/young adult SF series that I read some years ago, but I can't remember enough details to find it using an effective Google search. Here's what I do remember:

  • It starred a family (mother, father, son, daughter and maybe some others) who got involved in SF-style adventures.
  • It has religious overtones. It wasn't uncommon for one or more characters to pray before starting on an adventure. There was a scene in one book where one of the main characters prayed over a friend who was hospitalized, he felt his hands grow warm, placed his hands on the friend's chest, and the friend recovered. (The implication that the friend was healed by divine intervention via the main character.)
  • One of the books revolves around an experiment that goes awry, creating a column of "frozen" time somewhere in the American midwest. This column becomes the Earth's new magnetic pole, wreaking havoc with the planet's climate. Another character has to venture into the column and reset the experiment, causing the universe to reset to the moment in time when the experiment was first turned on. (Naturally, this reset button gave the author an excuse to kill off a lot of the main characters.)
That's as much as I can remember. Does this ring a bell for anybody?
