Help me find the episode!

Okay all you hardcore TOS fans, I'm looking for an episode where the Enterprise tries to call Kirk, but his communicator just sits on a table or something and beeps at him because he's being held hostage or something. Anyone know what episode I'm talking about? Is it A Piece of the Action?

A Piece of the Action does have a similar scene to the one you described..

That's what I was thinking. It happned during Kirk's interrogation in the base.

GREAT episode... Although I think it was both the communicator and phaser they were playing with that had Kirk worried.

Of course... THE CLASSIC lines after...

AF Colonel: "Espinoge, sabotage and Buglery. How are those for starters Kirk, if you don't start talking right now..."

Kirk: "I am a little green man from Alpha Centauri, You should see it...."

AF Colonel: "I am going to lock you up for 200 years."

Kirk: "That will be just about right."

Don't you mean "Assignment: Earth" -- Kirk and Spock are held hostage by those NASA guys, their Phasers and Communicators are lying right in front of them and suddenly it beeps ...

No, you're not wrong - it happened in that episode also.

Sounds like the Mission Control scene from "Assignment: Earth" after Kirk and Spock are captured by NASA security.

Thanks guys, now I don't have to watch the entire series (again) to figure it out.

Just look for the scenes where Spock is wearing the hat and they're at the launch gantry.
