Mods if this is a TNZ thread type topic, please feel free to move it there.

Otherwise, I was going to come up with this setup entirely on my own but I AM at "work" so I figured the community might have some fun.

The structure: 12 teams with two members each.
An arena or battlefield.
Mentors.
Weapons of choice.
One winner in a fight to the death.

The teams have to be composed of "canon" Star Trek characters and CANNOT include players with insanely obvious advantages - for example any of the Q continuum or Data.

Lets work out the teams, and see if we can figure out who would win.

Hunger Games means all kids to me. And I'm assuming some semi-malevolent entity with cosmic powers is putting this together. So, I've got 8 teams, and hopefully someone can come up with 4 more?

First, The Careers:

Team 1: Jono and Toral, Mentor: Captain Endar

Team 2: Miri and Jahn, Mentor: James T. Kirk

Then, the rest:

Team 3: Molly O'Brien and Transporter-modified Keiko O'Brien, Mentor: Miles O'Brien

Team 4: Transporter-modified Ro Laren and Transporter-modified Guinan, Mentor: Kira Nerys

Team 5: Wesley Crusher and Transporter-modified Jean-Luc Picard, Mentor: Mr. Boothby

Team 6: Alexander Rozhenko and Hugh, Mentor: Worf

Team 7: Jake Sisko and Nog, Mentor: Odo

Team 8: Naomi Wildman and Kes (she's young enough ;) ), Mentor: Lon Suder

Next three, entries courtesy of HIjol:

Team 9: Ian Andrew Troi (from "The Child") and Batai, Mentor: James Moriarty

Team 10: Meribor and Marissa Flores, Mentor: Thomas Riker

Team 11: Jay Gordon Graas and Patterson Supra, Mentor: Shinzon

And the last one, entry courtesy of Bry_Sinclair:

Team 12: Icheb and Mezoti, Mentor: Seven of Nine

I consolidated the list in my previous post and added mentors. If anyone - HIjol and Bry_Sinclair on their own entries, especially - would like to suggest changes (weapons of choice are so far missing), please speak up. :)

LOVE Moriarty as a mentor!...good call, Triumphant!...and nicely done on Team 12, Bry_Sinclair!...Team 6 should be formidable...

...weapons....hmmm...

Team 1: with the aggression of those two?...something close-in, hand to hand...???
Team 2: something chemical/biological
Team 3: some kind of camo-tech, like holo-projection or limited personal transport
Team 4: tough one...incendiary devices or flame-throwers or the like?
Team 5: various garden tools and edging equipment (sorry, but I HAD to! ;) )
Team 6: bat'leth and Borg arm-extension cutting device
Team 7: a serum from Odo's blood to give the team shapeshifting ability?
Team 8: extreme knowledge of the terrain and natural offerings as potential "weapons"
Team 9: physical/mental intrusion abilities
Team 10: at a loss here...slingshots and Tribbles
Team 11: electronic disfunction expertise
Team 12: Borg surveillance and detection technology...posters of 7 from her Voyager days

Loving the direction USS Triumphant took... thinking of a demented Q as the malevolent entity setting up the contest.

Perhaps Trelane... he would be nasty enough, and Gothos would be an interesting planet, as he could make only one section of it habitable and could change the environmental status of that section at will.

I think Adult Picard should be the mentor of Maribor and Marissa Flores, for obvious reasons. I can imagine he would be an excellent at getting people to sponsor those contestants.

I would make Eddington from DS9 team five's mentor. Although Boothby would be an excellent choice, he has to be a survivor from a previous games, and I just don't see that as being the case. Eddington is vicious enough to survive.

Unless there are any other changes to the list, lets get to discussing the opening. Who is first to die?

I think I agree on Eddington and Team 5. I wasn't sold in my mind on Boothby, but he had a connection to them both.

The reason I didn't go with Picard as mentor for Team 10 is that he's already a tribute in Team 5 - might be a conflict of interest for him. My thought process was then that Will Riker, as first officer, would fulfill his captain's requirement if he was unavailable - and then that Thomas would be more of a survivalist than Will. But of course, a powerful entity like we're talking about could have both Picards involved, anyway. :-)

We left out Rene Picard, too! Oh well. Shinzon, young Picard, adult Picard, his stepson, and his "son" from Inner Light is probably enough Picard, right?

...can you ever have enough Picard? :) ...and just suggestions, Triumphant, on the weapons for the teams not submitted by me...this is actually a very enjoyable creation...well done!...
