HDTV Antennas

^ Figured as much.

Anyone else out there 'cut the cord'? Do you miss cable, or not?

Cut the cord in 2007 and haven't had any regrets. Had complete DirecTV package, including NFL Sunday Ticket.

I did go buy a $30 RCA antenna, it it does a FAR better job than the old rabbit ears, and I live smackdab in the middle of a city.

Funny, I live exactly 4 blocks from our local NBC affiliate, and that's the station I have the most trouble bringing in.

If you turn out to be in the same boat as I am, a long cord is your friend. For pretty much each station, I have to move the antenna to a certain location in the living room. For PBS, I have to dangle it from a curtain rod!

Is yours amplified? I think I have that same antenna. :)

If the OP wants to consider DVR functionality, you can get the TiVo Premiere for $99! (Of course, the monthly channel guide costs you $20 a month)

^ I have no more use for a DVR. As of this fall, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and This Week in Baseball will be the only shows I have left. And they are available for free (and legally) over the net, from the networks' own websites.

I have DVR functionality, but not a DVR. I picked up an old Celeron-based computer on Freecycle, installed a tuner card in it, and stuck it in a closet. I run NPVR on it. I use Windows' remote desktop connection when I need to log into the computer, and the web interface of NPVR to schedule recordings through the browser on any other computer. Then, I use a set-top media player box to play recordings.

It's a little more complicated than a DVR, but it cost me less to get started and there are no monthly fees. It does give me a little more functionality as well.
