Ko'olauloa is the name of a district of the O'ahu island.

"Ko'olau" means "Windward", "loa" means "long."
 
Why did they name Grace Park's character "Kono"? It worked for the big Hawaiian guy from the original series, but it just sounds odd for a girl today.

I think her real name is Kona (which I guess is the feminine form of Kono, but I'm not sure). Kono is just a nickname.

Why does it sound odd? Its just a name. More a than a few names have jumped the gender barrier. Who knows, thanks to this show a whole bunch of girls may be named "Kono" in the next few years.

Specifically, Ko'olauloa is the district that includes the North Shore, where you get the best surfing.

Kevin Sorbo looked so much older than I remember. :wtf:
 
I think this was one of my favourite episodes so far. That's two guest stars. Masi Oka and Kevin Sorbo. I wonder how long before it becomes a show where famous people guest star in a show like Fantasy Island and the Love Boat.
 
It was sooooooooo obvious that Sorbo was the killer. That said the episode was really good. Nice to see Grace Park get an episode. Danno and MacGarret make a good comedy duo.

Also they'll be introducing the Wo Fat character some time this season.
 
Anybody think Grace Park needs to eat a few cheeseburgers? I mean, damn, her chest was concaved!! Her body is just creepy thin.

You're not the only one. I mentioned it when she went undercover as a waitress. Stick her next to a real woman and the hot factor is cut dramatically

Just because she has a bodytype you dont find attractive doesn't mean she's not a "real woman". She might be naturally thin. Thinness runs in my Dad's family. My sister has weighed around 100 lbs for most of her adult life, even after having two kids. When she joined the Air Force they almost didn't let her in because of her weight. Even after a diet designed to put on extra pounds she barely made it.
 
If I were to get someone to watch this version of Hawaii 5-0, I'd probably get them to watch the pilot and this episode, because to me, it shows off the new show at its best. I wish more of them would be like this. Not saying that any of the others were bad, but there was something about the vibe of this episode that made it feel genuine. I also really liked the high-octane chase scene.
 
Well they have toned down the enhanced interogation methods and they didn't shoot their way to a solution.
 
Though Danno does mention Steve's approach from time to time. Too bad all the posters :who were wringing their hands over this have bailed. :guffaw:
 
I thought the episode was pretty good. Liked the music, got that guy's cd somewhere.
Though, I was sort of dragged down by Grace Park's acting. Can't say it's her strength.
