It's that time of the year that for one of the early weeks of December the avatarian spectrum shifts into black and white and all the shades of gray in-between, before the flood of red and green overcome the retinas of sleepy Christmas-shopping nerds everywhere.

This is an annual tradition here at the TrekBBS, the 5th I believe, and I want to thank trekkiedane for starting it the couple years I was too miserable to, and Goji for the inspiration for it. Cheers, mates!

My black and white picture is particularly fitting at the moment as I'm following the second world war in real time through the twitter account @RealTimeWWII, it's covering the invasion of Finland at the moment.

If you're opening a discussion on changing things, might I suggest not doing it in December - it clashes with Christmas names/avs. How about November?

I agree, November would be better than December.

Better yet: Since we do Halloween names in October and holiday names in December, why not break up the year a bit by having grayscale month in the spring or summer?

I have to admit, I'm biased, because I love b & w photography. I just might forget to switch my own avatar back...

Mine fails the test, but it is mostly black and white ... I wish this forum had an "avatar history" function. I would love to just have a bunch of personal avatars on file that I can switch between.
