Have you put on weight over the winter?

I have put on 10 lbs since Thanksgiving. :scream: This sudden heat wave has made me realized warm days are near and I'm going to have to shed my jackets and wear shorts again. Uh oh.

I have stayed the same. I lost a bunch of weight last year, but since before Thanksgiving have been unmotivated to lose more. Thanks to running (which I do not only for weight control, but also to stave off depression), I have not gained anything....but I have not lost any either.

Have 14 lbs to lose to get where I wanted to be - I'm determined to get there eventually....but have been under a lot of stress and just can't get motivated.

I run because of depression as well. Good for you that you've done so well this winter. This winter has been pretty rough for me. SAD got me bad I have no motivation to do anything at all.

Paradoxically, I actually love the dark and night-time. But after suffering depression every winter, I finally have to admit that I'm not a winter person. Yet I still avoid the sun even though I know it's good for me. Oh well, I'm not a very rational person.

Yeah, but even if you're hiding from the sun, you're still going to get more exposure to it in the summer than you will in the winter.

You can always try Vitamin D supplements. They pretty much do the same thing.

Its common for people in colder climes to gain weight, not just because we are more sedentary, but due to seasonal affective disorder.

I have been losing weight steadily since 2009, and that has continued through the winter, thankfully.

When winter rolls around here, I'm hoping to lose more weight. During summer lost some, and then put a little back on, and now staying steady below what I was 6 months ago.

I've been inactive because of various medical conditions, but I still managed to drop a couple of pounds. Hopefully I'll be able to exercise again within a month!

I always put on weight during the winter because I do most of my exercise outside, and it's at best inconvenient, at worst dangerous to do that in winter. I find exercising on bikes and stuff inside so dull!

But I have put on a few pounds, but since I always lose it in the summer, it's hard to freak out about it...

I weighed myself in November and again today. I was 178 then and I'm 177 now.

I think I lost some muscle, though. I still look fit but I feel bleh.
