Have the writers finished the script for the movie yet?

Looks like the Writer's strike will start this Monday. It'll delay everything. I'm wondering if it has been confirmed that the script for the movie has been finished yet?

They begin shooting in just a few days, so yeah.

We don't want to be like TMP and get rewritten 10 times during shooting.

Good to hear.

Too bad the script can't be edited during the strike...

I wonder, though, whether the strike will affect visual F/X work. Aren't visual F/X artists members of the Animation Guild, which is an arm of the IATSE? I know that the IATSE and the WGA are at odds about this strike, but I'm just wonderin'.

My question is, what about the directors and actors guilds? Aren't they set to possibly go on strike in June or something?

^The script is indeed finished. The strike was orchestrated by certain Powers That Be to happen just after completion of the screenplay so as to shut down Heroes and prevent Quinto from being tied up filming a TV series.

Abrams is sad about losing Battlestar Galactica, however. But certain sacrifices were necessary...

Those devious bastards!

While they're treating the major factions of the industry like so many chess pieces, though, are they also working on drawing out negotiations with SAG to coincide with completion of principal photography? 'Cause if the timing didn't work out on that, it would be a bummer...

Abrams is both a writer AND the film's director. Is he prohibited by the Writers Guild from doing any editing/rewriting or not?

Makes me wonder if TV show producers/show runners are similarly prohibited from writing/rewriting their own shows....

Well, many producers are really just staff writers and showrunners are writers as well so they're WGA members so they won't work either.
